A contest for fans to create their own original Medarot (or "OriMeda") for Medarot 8 is currently being held on Niconico Seiga (more information [http://info.nicovideo.jp/seiga/medarot8/ here]). The top three winning designs will be added to the game as downloadable content. As an extra incentive, everyone who enters will also receive a Star Medal and a downloadable battle music track (Medarot 2's "Strike Enemy") in the game after it is released. The deadline for the contest is August 3, 2014.

The contest was open for 2 months and received over 2000 entries. The three grand prize winners, to be added to the game as DLC at a later date, were [[Haikara-Mate]] (a schoolgirl type), [[Kimengar]] (an oni gargoyle type), and [[Time Faller]] (a clock type). There were also 10 runners up who received prizes but did not make it into the game.
