Kantaros (カンタロス), known in English as Kantaroth, is a rhino beetle-type Medarot that first appeared in Medarot R.
Description
It is an upgraded version of Metabee, with a blockier appearance and a duller color. Out of all of the various upgraded forms of Metabee, it appears most similar to the basic Metal Beetle design.
Another thing to notice is that it is what Metal Beetle would look like in the year 2020, leading to the model number KBT-00 Type 2020 or KBT-2020 in the manga.
In the games
In Medarot R
He is usually seen with Rintaro, and the only time you fight Kantaros before Rintaro upgrades to the KBT-4 model Arcbeetle, is during the Hyper Tournament.
Otherwise it is obtainable from the Parts collection by fighting Rintarou himself, opponent number 2 in the robattle rankings. Notably Kantaros is faster and stronger than Metal Beetle in this game.
Interestingly this makes Rintaro a better if not just as good as Kouji(who in the anime was ranked No. 2).
In Medarot 4
It is used by Rintarou as his Leader.
Here, Kantaros has faster charge and cooling times than Metal Beetle, and with the right teamates, can unleash a barrage of attacks.
He is best used with the Vehichle Medal or the Bird Medal depending on what version they are playing.

Miss Tamawo utilizes a Kantaros as backup during her fight in the postgame of the Kabuto Version. Rintarou, however, is not seen with it, but rather with Arcbeetle-Dash, making the fight with Miss Tamawo the only chance to obtain one of its Parts.
Its model number is now KBT-3BF.
Battle-wise, it serves as a weaker and less accurate, but lighter version of Metal Beetle.

In Medarot 8
Kantaros makes a reappearance in Medarot 8 as a DLC-exclusive Medarot. It appears along with Mach Massive and Rollstar in the first DLC mission, which can be downloaded for free.
Its model number is now KBT03.
In the anime
Kantaros is Rintarou’s Medarot. In his first appearance, he is mistaken for Metabee, causing trouble for Ikki and his partner due to Rintarou’s overzealousness and disregard for protocol in Robottle.
He makes a cameo in Medarot Damashii, appearing as a character in a TV show. The scene shown in the TV belongs to the Medarotter Rintarou! manga.
In the Manga
In the manga he hardly speaks. To begin with, his sense of self is not well developed, and he is unable to speak, so he is in a baby-like state in other aspects other than Robattles. Later, he is sent to Ikki's Metabee , and like Rintarou, he begins to say "Daze!" and shows signs of growth. In fact, much earlier than that, when he and Rintarou applied to participate in the Hyper Medarot Tournament , he said "Yubindaze."
Other than that, Kantaros is shown to be very powerful, being able to fire at high speeds and spread the shots he fires, he is extremely fast, with speed that belies the build he has.
According to Jick and Hikaru, Kantaros's Kabuto Medal was born after the Ten Days of Darkness, with an even stronger limiter than most Medals, equipped with anti-robottle combat protection for control from the Rampage System.
