The Ancient (ジ・エンシェント), known in English as Spitfire, is a dragon-type Medarot that first appeared in Medarot 2.
Description[edit]
Like its predecessor Moon Dragon, The Ancient's design is based on a Chinese dragon. It has a similar appearance to Moon Dragon, but with many small changes to the design. In the place of Moon Dragon's large three-clawed hands, it has regular grasping hands with decorative pieces mimicking the claws attached to its wrists. Its leg parts also feature a similar fabric-covered tail design with the addition of two small grappling hook "legs" on its front. In battle, The Ancient is capable of attacking by using its arm parts to set up powerful attack combos, and its head part gives it the ability to repair damaged parts.
Oddly, The Ancient's model number is listed as SPT-1 (possibly from "serpent") in its Medarot 2 and Medarot R appearances, despite being a direct successor to the DRA-type Moon Dragon (and there being no SPT-0 Medarot before it). Its name was changed to Spitfire in English version of the anime to incorporate the SPT model number. Later, its model number was changed to DRA-1 in the Japanese version of Medarot 2 Core.
Its part names are based on Moon Dragon's, but spelled with phonetic English rather than with Japanese words.
In the games[edit]
The Ancient is a hover-type Medarot with both Cross Attack Set and Cross Attack Fire on its arms, and a powerful Repair action on its head part. Its arms have the Link attribute and are most compatible with the Dragon Medal, while its head and legs have the Recovery attribute and are compatible with the Mermaid Medal.
In Medarot 2 / Medarot 2 Core[edit]
It can be encountered in Meda-Link Robottles and in battles with Ninjas in Shinobic Park. In Medarot 2 Core, its model number (not visible in the English version of the game) was changed to DRA-1.
In Medarot R[edit]
Is obtainable from the Part Collection by fighting メダロッター10 that is ranked opponent number 15.
In the anime[edit]
The Ancient is owned by a Medarotter called "Mr. Dragon" who came from Nagoya to challenge Ikki and Metabee shortly after the rankings showed Ikki as #3 ranked Medarotter in Japan. Its regenerative powers give Metabee a hard time until Ikki notices that the regenerator is in the head, signaled by its eyes glowing.
