Ikki Tenryou (天亮一輝 Tenryō Ikki) is a major character within the Medarot series, initially introduced as the player character in Medarot 2.

He is arguably the most popular character in the franchise for notably serving as the main character in Medarot anime and its sequel. Due to his popularity, he continues to play the protagonist role in Medarot R, 3, 4, AX and Brave, as well as making appearances in other games.

Ikki is recognized as a skilled Medarotter who owns a Metabee, but he also alternately possesses a Rokusho. From Medarot 3, he upgrades them to Saikachis and Dorcus, respectively.

He is widely regarded as a spiritual successor to Hikaru Agata, sharing many similarities with the latter and assuming the same role as Hikaru in Medarot DS and 7, including becoming the new Phantom Retort.

In the games

Medarot 2/Medarot 2 Core

Ikki is the main character of Medarot 2. He starts off as one of the only people in the school without a Metarot. However, while out on a chore to buy supper for his mom, Hikaru Agata forces Ikki to buy his first Medarot, an update version of Metabee or Rokusho depending on the game's version. When Ikki gets home, his mother scolds him for wasting the money and is told to go upstairs. He then assembles his Metarot and his disappointed when it doesn't move, realizing he needs a medal. when Ikki's dad was on his way home, the Phantom Retort gave him a medal to give to his son, that being the Kuwagata medal or the Kabuto medal, again depending on the version. Later that day, when leaving his house, he runs into his childhood friend, Arika. She challenges him to his first robattle. After decimating her team, Ikki is lead to the school to watch a Medarot tournament. The tournament was over, The Screws being the reigning champs. The Screws taunt Ikki into fighting them, one-on-one at first, but then the Screws decided to cheat and attempted to take Ikki on, 3-on-1 unlocking the medaforce.

After the Screws make a tactical retreat, Ikki goes into the school building and speaks with Arika about a rumour she heard about a Medarot that tickled cute girls. After sending Ikki to investigate, he ran into Salty, Ikki's dog fallowed by Karin, leaving the school. After speaking to Nae Akihabara, Ikki investigated a shady building on the edge of town. Arika then runs to tell him a strong Medafighter appeared from the Rose Wood Private School. Ikki rushed back to fight this new threat. Kouji, the boy from Rose Wood Private School then shows up and decimates the Screws with one Medarot, that being Smilodonad or Warbonnet depending on the version. Ikki then chases after Kouji upstairs where Arika the forces him to battle Kouji. Kouji accecpts his loss like a man. Karin then appears and tries to explain things to Kouji who goes ballistic for being in the same vicinity as Karin. He then claims Ikki is the culprit for the ticklings. After Arika speaks some logic into him, Kouji and Arika leave Ikki and Arika alone taking Karin with him.

Arika forces Ikki to go over to her house to attempt to get Ikki to go out disguised a girl to try and catch the Medarot. After Ikki leaves wearing the skirt, the Medarot runs up and harasses Arika of not being a cute girl. Ikki then chases after the Medarot while Arika reccoparates from a tiring run. The Medarot lead Ikki to the spooky building on the edge of town which ended up being a part of the RoboRobo Gang's scheme. The Select Corp. walked in and found a defeated RoboRobo while Ikki hid. The Select Corp. then took credit for the defeat of the RoboRobo for themselves. Ikki then returns to Arika's house to drop off the skirt which she didn't want back, so Ikki kept it. After speaking to Arika about a spooky Ghost Medarot in the mountain to the north. He left and saw the Screws stiring up trouble in the school yard trying to get a group to go to Mt. Odoro to get there parts back from the Ghost Medarot.

Medarot R

Medarot R tells an alternative adventures of Ikki Tenryou and his friends on the town of Omikuji, but doesn't match the established setting in Medarot 2, Medarot 3 and Medarot 4.

Ikki is notably more friendly toward Metabee and Rokusho and treats them with respect, and thus Metabee isn't as rude to Ikki (despite the fact the he and Rokusho have no lines here.).

Here Ikki owns both Metabee and Rokusho and won the Hyper Tournament defeating his rival Kouji, and two other Hyper Medarotters, namely Rintarou Namashina and Jick.

Chapter 1

How Ikki's adventure begins is on his birthday when he gets the KBT type he'd always wanted --- Metal Beetle or Metabee for short. However Ikki doesn't have a Medal so he can't use Metabee. When he goes to school, looking for Arika, he sees the Kikuhime and her cronies showing off Peppercat for the school paper. Ikki talks to the cameraman Chief, who tells him that Arika left to get more film. Ikki goes to the 24 shop looking for Arika, only to see a strange man (a Roborobo Gang thug) attacking Hikaru. Hikaru tells the man that he doesn't want the Medarot the thug is trying to give him. The thug gets angry, and noticing Ikki and the inoperable Metabee, challenges the boy to a fight. Ikki tells the thug that he can't Robotlle--- only for the thug to laugh at him. Hikaru flees only to return as the Kaito Retort, a well known viglante that gives people who can beat his Rokusho , Shinsaber and Gobenkei, a Medal. Hikaru gives Ikki a spare Kabuto Medal that he'd been holding on to for a while.

With it, Ikki beats the thug with Metabee's help, and tries to give Metabee's Medal back, but Hikaru lets him keep it. Ikki and Metabee's first battle was seen by Arika, who posts it on the school paper.

The Screws, Kouji and Karin find out about Ikki and Metabee, with the Screws cornering Arika and challenging Ikki and Metabee to fight a 3 round battle. Metabee ultimately beats Peppercat, forcing Kikuhime to swear revenge and her cronies to flee.

Kouji and Smilodonad meet Ikki without realizing it and give a challenge to him. At Karin's insistence, Kouji and Smilodonad leave after this.

Chapter 2

The next day, Ikki and Metabee find out fron Ikki's dad, about a new gorilla type medarot. Ikki realizes that the Kaito Retort was real, and decides to look into a new part shop that opened recently.

When he goes to school, Arika talks him into finding the Kaito Retort and leaves, prompting Ikki to call Arika out on her trying to manipulate him. He realizes that Arika, who was in a hurry, never told him were she was going.

Ikki and Metabee leave the school when the Screws dash into them, Ikki asks them why they were running and Iwanoi and Kagamiyama explain everything. The Screwy were playing in the abandoned lot beehind the school with Goringo, the new medarot, until a strange man who looked like a pirate appeared, scaring off the Screws and stealing their medarot.

Ikki goes to the abandoned lot and finds Kouji and Smilodonad, who were looking for Red Mako, but didnt find him, Ikki goes to Medaropolis Park, with Metabee in tow. They don't find him there either, but they run into Arika. They go to Lucky Town to find the shopkeep and ask her for the part. The old woman otherwise known as Grandma Kameya, evades all their questions and annoys Ikki and Metabee to the point where they leave. Ikki and Metabee solve the test that the old woman posed by getting a Medal Shrine amulet and finally getting Goringo parts. Ikki and Metabee encountered and defeated Red Mako, who was responsible for the whole debacle, who was setting up two thugs to try to get people to get more Goringo parts. After this Ikki and Metabee return home.

Chapter 3

The next day Ikki decides to go to Messy town after school, After talking with Arika, he decides to go there. when Ikki finds out from Chief that the Screws want revenge on him and Metabee, and Ikki realizes that he has to settle things withe Screws, and goes into the School gymnasium. Kikuhime taunts Ikki about the fact that Arika isn't there and has Peppercat, Kiethturtle and Bluesdog gang up on Metabee, but notably Metabee wins without unlocking the Medaforce. Ikki notices that he has become more confident, with Jick noticing the whole battle, saying to Ikki and everyone there that Medarot are valuable partners.

Ikki and Metabee leave the school, fighting a Foreman to gain acces to Messy Town in search of Natsume Factory, when He and Metabee are about to enter, the duo run into the Screws. Iwanoi and Kagamiyama run out of the factory in fear, with Kikuhime yelling at the Boss there. the boss explains that his customers are experienced Medarotters, not fools who don't know what they're doing. The boss yells at Kikuhime and her cronies to leave and not come back, scaring them off. The boss invites Ikki to see the factory, with Ikki noticing old Medarot types, and a washing machine for Medals.

Ikki finds out from the Boss and Cheapy, that strange men attacked Cheapy and forced him to give them the materials. Ikki realises that its the Roborobo Gang, Ikki goes to the next town and find one of the helpers was injured by the thugs. The Helper gives Ikki Maitin parts and a Mermaid Medal. Ikki rushes back to the Factory with Metabee and Maitin in tow and fends off the Roborobo Gang, Ikki battles Kikuhime who is using Sprytooth alongside Peppercat, with Metabee and Ikki's other Medarot defeating them. As a reward, Ikki is given the Minihandle, Landrotor parts and a Ticket to the Suprise Site.

Ikki and Metabee return to the shop, with Hikaru giving Ikki a new Tinpet, a Kuwagata Medal and Rokusho parts. after that Ikki, Metabee and Rokusho return home, preparing for the Medarot Expo.

Chapter 4

When Ikki, Metabee and Rokusho go to the Medarot Expo, all is not what it seems. Ikki meets Hasuke Samejima and his Cyandog, Doggie, they explain that they were looking for Rintarou, who was looking for the men who swapped Doggie's parts and stuck them with glue, with Hasuke thinking about getting even with them.

Ikki, Metabee and Rokusho decide to look for Rintarou in place of Hasuke and Doggie, with the trio going to the main stage of the Expo, meeting up with the Boss and a strange man who calls himself Cutter, a medarot Designer. Things aren't what they seem, as the man flees from Rintaro and Kantaros, who challenge him... only for the villain to glue Kantaros to the floor. Ikki and his partners pursue the man, who reveals that his name is Green Pork, a Roborobo executive. Ikki, Metabee and Rokusho challenge him to a robottle, but Green Pork flees, having two thugs fight for him. Metabee and Rokusho defeat the Roborobo's Medarot, and with Ikki continue chasing the man.

The trio catch up to Green Pork, who arrogantly says that him and his men got away, revealing that he kidnapped the real Cutter. He then boasts about about his submarine, only for Ikki to point out that it looks like a pig. Green Pork gets angry and fights Ikki, Metabee and Rokusho, only for the Trio to defeat him. Green Pork flees with his men, and Cutter thanks Ikki for saving him.

After the Expo, a Director notices Ikki, Metabee and Rokusho, and says to them that they'll star in his new film, a biography about the Legendary Medarotter Hikaru Agata!

Chapter 5

Ikki goes to school after deciding that he'll go to the Medal TV station after school. When he goes to the station, the Direction reveals that he's having a contest to see who's going to play Kirara's role in his TV drama. After that, He allows Ikki, Metabee and Rokusho to take a look around. After exploring, Ikki returns home.

Chapter 6

When Ikki goes to school, he finds out that all the girls in town (sans Arika) had their faces scribbled on by some strange marker. Karin gets scared, and Jick suspects the Roborobos are involved. Arika tell Ikki to go to Medal Tv to audition while Jick and Arika watch Karin for the time being. Ikki , Metabee and Rokusho bump into a stranger who off-handedly mentions the girls faces being scribbled on. Ikki tries to audition while old women and babies try to do so, much to the Director's shock. A strange woman appears, and tries to audition, the Director gawks at her for a little bit when Arika arrives. The Director asks Arika's age, only tind out that Arika fits the role! The strange woman leaves and with two thugs plots her revenge.

Two men said to Ikki that the Director called for him. Ikki goes to him, only for him to find out that he wasn't called.

Ikki and his Medarot rush to where Arika is, only to find out that Arika got scribbled on. Ikki, Metabee and Rokusho rush to the stage defeating two Roborobo gang thugs. Arika confronts Pink Duck with the two trading insults until Ikki, Metabee and Rokusho are forced to fight for Arika, defeating Pink Duck in the process. Arika taunts the woman, only for Ikki to point out who actually did the fighting.

Ikki, being truthful, points out that the contest was a failure, only for Arika to chase him off.

Chapter 7

Ikki wakes up at home, and finds out that he'd slept without eating anything for dinner. Ikki's dad tells him about the Medarot Tournament, that is recently being set up. Ikki goes to Arika's house to ckeck up on her after this.

Arika shows her partner Medarot -- a Sailor-Multi that she named 'Brass'. Ikki, after finding out that Arika cried a lot, says that he'd never thought Arika as particulary feminine, and Arika gets slightly annoyed and has Brass chase Ikki, Metabee and Rokusho out the house.

When Ikki and co. go to the Medarot tournament, things go off without a hitch. Ikki, Metabee and Rokusho face Hasuke , who remembers him, Mitsuki, the Screws, and ultimately Ikki finally faces Kouji, who surprisingly uses Ambiguous and Atheist alongside Smilodonad. When Metabee beats Smilodonad, a villainous-looking man appears, and reveals that his name is Silver Bat, and that he'll take over some of the competitor's Medarot, forcing Ikki, Metabee and Rokusho to face their own friend's Medarot. The trio beat them, but Silver Bat attacks this time around, only to get beaten.

Ikki and his friends leave to find a way to fix their Medarot,

A few weeks after Medarot 2, Ikki and Salty find a shard of the Fiyun stone that Hoketa dropped. After the Aliens change Omikuji School into Fiyun Tower, the Aliens ask Ikki to help them, Ikki can't call Metabee or Rokusho to help him this time, as he left his Medarotch. the Aliens give him a new Medarotch and Smilodonad or Warbonnet (the one Ikki doesn't choose ends up with Kirara, who will give him to Ikki after a fight.), and send him on his way.

While Ikki traverses the Tower, he and Ronoji/Menoji run into the Roborobo gang and Dr. Hebereke, who want the Fiyun Stone for themselves. Ikki and Ronoji / Menoji clash with the villains and defeat them, encountering Ikki's friends and rivals and defeating Dr. Hebereke multiple times along the way. Once the trio get all six, they face Hoketa who wants the shards so he can fix the stone. After these adventures, Ikki opens the present that the Aliens gave him, and later finds out that the Tower is next to his school.

Medabots AX

Ikki and Metabee/Rokusho travel to an island to participate in a robattle tournament. His Medabot explains that they must win the preliminaries in six locations on the island to qualify for the finals and compete for the prize.

After winning the preliminaries, Metabee/Rokusho, excited about the finals, tells Ikki to stay focused and not let his guard down. In the final, they defeat Koji and Sumilidon or Henry and Warbandit. However, their victory is short-lived as the Rubberobo Gang invades the arena to steal the prize, leaving Ikki and Metabee/Rokusho frustrated. Ikki's Medabot encourages him to pursue the villains.

After defeating the Rubberobo Gang and retrieving the prize, an Arcbeetle model, Metabee/Rokusho celebrates with Ikki, eager to robattle as much as they want now.

Medarot

Ikki serves as the central character in the anime and its sequel, primarily focusing on the events from Medarot 2, specifically the Kabuto version, with some minimal references to Medarot 1.

He's portrayed as a young, passionate Medarot enthusiast who initially couldn't afford the necessary Tinpet, Medaparts, and Medal to own his Medarot. However, luck favored him when he stumbled upon a Rare Medal in a river. With this find, coupled with a set of older parts from the shopkeeper Hikaru Agata, he assembles his own Medarot, named Metal Beetle or "Metabee", and engages it in battles. Although their initial victories were promising, the clashes between Metabee's sassy demeanor and Ikki's temperament became a recurring source of tension. Over time, however, they develop a bond of mutual respect and trust.

Accompanied by Arika Amazake and Brass, Ikki and Metabee embark on numerous adventures involving other Medarots and their Medarotters. They face challenges from adversaries like the Screws and the RoboRobo Gang, occasionally receiving assistance from Phantom Retort, who shares an interest in Metabee's rare medal. In their quest to locate a Legendary Medarotter at Hanazono Private School, Ikki encounters his eternal rival Kouji Karakuchi and his romantic interest Karin Junmai.

At some point, Ikki and Metabee encounter Rokusho, a wandering Medarot without a partner. Learning of Dr. Akihabara's supposedly role in his master's demise, Rokusho engages in a battle with Ikki and Metabee, resulting in Metabee's body nearly destroyed as Rokusho employs the Medaforce to secure victory. Together, Ikki, Metabee, and Rokusho confront Beast Master, ultimately defeating him and saving both Metabee and Rokusho. Subsequently, during the showdown against Dr. Hebereke, the leader of RoboRobo Gang, Ikki and Metabee emerge as the sole contenders capable of defeat God Emperor and its colossal version, successfully removing the medal from this formidable Medarot.

The series of actions undertaken by Ikki and Metabee over the year earn them recognition, placing Ikki as the third-best Medarotter in Japan, just behind Kouji and Space Medarotter X. This achievement grants Ikki a spot on Team Japan for the Robattle World Tournament. Before the tournament, Ikki encounters Rintarou Namashina, an overly enthusiastic Medarotter whose Kantaros causes trouble for Metabee. A subsequent Team Robattle with Sarami reveals Ikki's momentary lapse in judgment, leading to intervention by Hikaru and his Metabee. Following this incident, Ikki contemplates strategies to overcome challenges, supported by Rintarou's encouragement. Together with Rintarou and Kouji, Ikki visits a suspicious dojo for training, only to uncover Sarami's ploy to obtain Metabee's rare medal. Overcoming this threat, Ikki learns from Rintarou about Kouji's pursuit of mastering the Medaforce. This leads to another confrontation between Ikki and Kouji, where Ikki successfully counters Smilodonad's new technique using a Concealing part.

Throughout the tournament, Ikki and Metabee confront formidable opponents, including those with ties to Hikaru, delving deeper into the mysteries surrounding the Ten Days of Darkness. A notable clash of ideals arises between Ikki and Victor, the tournament favorite and current world champion from Team Kenya. Their differing perspectives on Medarot treatment highlight the tournament's complex dynamics.

The tournament finale pitted Team Japan against Team Kenya, with Ikki's Metabee and Victor's Warbonnet emerging as the final contenders vying for the championship title. However, the tournament's true nature was part from Dr. Hebereke schemes to use the power of rare medals of these two Medarots, intending to control all Medarots and instigate a new Ten Days of Darkness. Despite this perilous turn, Ikki managed to snap Metabee out of Dr. Hebereke's influence, thwarting the villain's initial plan. In a desperate move, Dr. Hebereke unleashed a giant Primity Baby to wreak havoc on the city, prompting Dr. Medarot to deploy a giant Metabee in response.

Ikki and Metabee confronted Primity Baby, resulting in what appeared to be Metabee's sacrificial act to defeat the colossal threat. However, the unexpected return of Dr. Fushihara, accompanied by aliens, led to Metabee's revival, much to Ikki's relief. Concurrently, Hikaru Agata provided new parts for Victor's Warbonnet, allowing both Medarotters to resume the final match, much for Ikki's enthusiasm. The credits scenes reveal that Ikki and Metabee lose the match, although this scene was omitted from the dubbed version.
