Metabee (メタビー), short for Metal Beetle (メタルビートル) is a prominent character that has appeared in many Medarot media.

Description

Metabee is the name given to five Medarot that have been partners to five Medarotters: Hikaru Agata, Ikki Tenryou, Azuma Amakura, Soruto and Kagami Rokuyou. It is a KBT-type Medarot, and as such, it set the stone to the following KBT Medarots with their trademark Missile, Rifle and Gatling attacks. All versions of Metabee have a yellow, somewhat golden body, with a horn on their head, and guns on each arm. Both Ikki's and Hikaru's also have a fiery personality and are very passionate, with Hikaru's Metabee being more heroic.

Azuma's Metabee is lazier outside of battle and gets glee from fightng, behaving in a more antagonistic way toward Azuma.

Soruto's Metabee is more observant, but often gets hotheaded and is prone to rash decisions and saying ridiculous statements, he often tries to be more understanding, much unlike Ikki's and Azuma's Metabee.

Hikaru's Metabee

In the games

In Medarot Perfect Edition and Medarot 2 CORE

Hikaru's Metabee has a simillar personality as Ikki's, but is notably more loyal, and has a stronger sense of justice than Ikki's Metabee. He has simillar catchphrases to Ikki's Metabee, and he even gets along well with Hikaru's Rokusho. Unlike Ikki's Metabee, He is stoic and never talks during battles, usually saying something after the fight has ended(usually to Hikaru/Kirara)

After the events of the Ten Days Of Darkness, he survived with his memories intact, and is more focused. He never talks to anyone else other than Ikki and his Metabee, Hikaru and Kirara.

In Medarot 4

He doesn't play an active role in the story, and appears with the Kaito Retort as Arcbeetle-Dash.

In the anime

Prior to the series, it was Hikaru's Medarot all the way along. Both shared a close bond and became strong together. However, during the event of the Ten Days of Darkness, which happened during a World Robottle Tournament, Hikaru had to shut down his friend, breaking his Medal to save the world. He was able to restore Metabee's Medal afterwards, but he was never the same, losing his memory permanently.

The Space Medarotter X, one of Agata's guise, appears with an Arcbeetle, which is mentioned to be Hikaru's Metabee. It is an heroic but silent Medarot, and deals massive amount of damage with its special attack, the Prominence. It is a strong Medarot, able to stop Ikki's Metabee's attack without a lot of effort.

Metabee's Kabuto Medal is a rare one, and thus, he is able to summon the Medaforce.

Ikki's Metabee

In the anime

Ikki longed for a long time to be a Medarotter. This was not possible since he couldn't afford a Medarot. Luckily for him, he saw a Kabuto Medal in Omikuji City's river. What he didn't know is that said Medal was a rare one. But when he sees his friend Arika being harshly attacked by The Rockers, he runs to the store clerk, Hikaru, and buys a Medarot using the Medal he found. Hikaru gives him his old Metabee's Parts packed, and tells Ikki to name his Medarot Metabee. In the american dub, though, Ikki names his Medarot like this. When Ikki goes to Robottle The Rockers, Metabee showed to be fast and powerful, being capable of beating two HellPhoenix and a Blackmail with a Death Bomb all by himself. He started being a disobedient Medarot, but later Metabee grew up having a bond with his Medarotter. The relationship between both is that of two siblings, fighting for common things like bed and food. However, when it comes to Robottle, both show to be strong and righteous.

Ikki and Metabee went to a World Robottle Tournament, much like Hikaru did back then. An event similar to the Ten Days of Darkness occurred when Ikki was in the finals against Victor and his Warbandit. However, Ikki could rescue Metabee from his dream before he had to shut down his Medarot like Hikaru did. Both stopped the event to occur, and when Dr. Hebereke saw his plan to make Medarot own the world was screwed, he created a giant Medarot to destroy the city, and later the world, directly and without having to control every Medarot, as his last resort. Professor Medarot foresaw this, so he built a Giant Metabee to fight Primity Baby. However, it had to be driven by Metabee himself and many other Medarots to power up him. After a long and hard Robottle, Metabee decided to sacrifice himself to save the world. He was short after revived and brought back. After said event, Ikki could end the Robottle against Victor.

A time after these events, a guy named Ginkai and his Death Medarot, Gundesperado, caused riot in the city. This was part of a bigger plan from Kokuryuu to end with the Medarots and that his company models, the Death Medarots, were predominant. Ikki faced Gundesperado with Metabee, however, he lost, despite he used the Medaforce. Ikki got a new Medarotch, the Medarotch Advance, from Nae, aswell as new Parts for his Metabee. As Metabee now could Medachange, he used this capability to skillfully defeat Gundesperado. Metabee's Reckless Mode allows him to transform into a car, gaining mobility this way, whilst his Crafty Mode allows him to shoot an energy ball to his enemy, dealing massive ammount of damage.

Even though Metabee himself is strong, himself alone wasn't enough to fight Grain. Even then, help from other Medarots, namely Dorcus, Tyrrellbeetle and Arcbeetle-Dash (all of them KBT and KWG-types) was needed to stop him, and even that was not enough.

He is voiced by Junko Takeuchi, and in the dub, by Joe Motiki.

In the manga

In Medarot 2

Ikki could afford a Medarot and he strongly wished for one. However, his parents would not give him permission to get one. A KBT Medarot was in the store, and Ikki would always keep an eye on it. Ikki almost bought it, but there were no Medals in stock, to which Hikaru says that his dog once found one, and that said event would not happen again. Ikki then mistakenly breaks the Medarot and runs from the store.

Ikki tries to find a Medal by making Solty go find it. However, he did not return with one until some tries later, where he coincidentally found a Kabuto Medal. However, Solty was seen by two thieves, who chased Ikki all the way to his house. They challenged Ikki to a Robottle with a DeathPhoenix and a Sabotenna, but as Ikki had no Medarot, both thieves tried to steal the Medal using the Medarots. Solty, who had the Medal, ran to avoid the attacks from the Medarots. Ikki took his and his parent's valuables and went to buy a Medarot to defend himself from the attacks. As the Medarot was broken, it was going to be given to the store manager's son, however Hikaru decided to sell the Medarot to Ikki. It was almost given to the little boy, however it was transported to where Ikki was and he Robottled against the thieves. The KBT Medarot did not obey Ikki, however he beated the thieves quickly. By the second episode, the Medarot was named Metabee.

Mr. Uruchi confunded Ikki's Metabee with Hikaru's, and even Hikaru pointed out this Metabee was exactly the same as his.

Azuma's Metabee

In the Games

Metabee is with Azuma since the fist chapter of Medarot DS, being given to him by Ikki. He has a short fuse and is a rather lazy, irresponsible guy, and clashes with Azuma multiple times. He hates being called trash and often refuses to listen to Azuma, acting in an hardheaded way. He even gets glee from fighting and goes as far to call it fun, possibily hinting at the fact that he is only doing this to get on Azuma's nerves. but despite these negative traits, he is loyal and actually kinder than he lets on. Later, Azuma and Metabee see a Gun-knows in the town's Medarot Research lab where Azuma Amakura, in disguise as a researcher, agrees to test the parts. Soon after, Azuma's own Metabee is destroyed in a confrontation with the Roborobo Gang's Sakekaasu and his leader Conflict; Sakekaasu steals the broken Medrot's body, accidentally leaving the Medal behind. Dr. Aki gives Azuma the complete set of parts for Gun-Nose and a replacement Tinpet while the Medarot decides on a new name for itself: "Gun".

In the Manga

Metabee is with Azuma since the fist chapter of Medarot 7. He is extremely competitive and a rather lazy, irresponsible and borderline arrogant guy, often called in sleeping during robattles, He hates being called trash and often refuses to listen to Azuma. He gets glee from fighting and goes as far to call it fun, but despite these negative traits, he is loyal and actually kinder than he lets on.

Medarot Seven

Metabee is with Azuma since the fist chapter. He is competitive, rebellious and often lazy, often called in sleeping during robattles.

Chapter 1

Metabee is outright rude to Azuma, telling him that he's not his alarm clock, and when he's called to fight the Willows, he sleeps and even agrees with what Sakura says, much to Azuma's despair.

When Nut called Azuma a fool and Metabee a piece of trash, the duo are quick to fight them, defeating Kieth and P.C. quickly.

Chapter 2

Later in a Team Robotlle with the Roborobos, Metabee doesn't do well. He gets confused due to his laziness, being out of the fight and even punches Azuma for belittling him, being practically useless.

He as well as Azuma recklessly challenged Kohaku and Rokusho, with Shiokara arriving and cheating the robottle by using paralyzing cables on Rokusho.

Metabee frees Rokusho, and tries to fight Chuugen Haoh, forcing him to switch parts with the Trans-Part System gaining the Right Arm 'Rungu'. He blasts at Chuugen Haoh weakening him, allowing Rokusho to finish him off.

Chapter 3

In the fight with the Roborobo gang, the Roborobos unleased a Beast Master to fight Azuma and his friends as revenge for beating Shiokara. The Beast Master torments Azuma and the others with its overwhelming destructive power, so much so that even Willows, who broke in the warehouse, can't stand against it. However, in the end, Beast Master was taken advantage of by the flash of Rokusho 's Samurai Saber , and was defeated by Metabee 's Medaforce , which blew his head off without a trace. However, there is no mention that his Kabuto Medal has any special ability.
