Arika Amazake (Erika in English translations) is a recurring character in the Medarot series. A childhood friend of Ikki Tenryou, Arika dreams to become a journalist and as such is always interested to investigate the going-ons in town. She is tomboyish and has a short temper, though her flippant attitude hides a real fondness for Ikki.

As a Medarotter, Arika favours Sailor-type and female Knight-type Medarots, with her original Sailor-Multi (nicknamed "Brass") being her trademark Medarot.

In the games[edit]

Medarot 2[edit]

After Ikki acquires his starter Medarot and leaves his house, Arika greets him and proposes a warm-up battle with her Sailor-Multi. Wheter Ikki wins or succeeds, the story progresses.

Once at school, Arika explains The Screws have won the school's annual Robattle contest and prods Ikki into fighting them. After Ikki defeats them, Arika writes an article on his victory for the school's newspaper. However, she soons get winds of a new story when rumours of an invisible Medarot tickling girls and convinces Ikki to dress up as a girl to draw out the perpetrator. As they venture outside, Arika is tickled by the Medarot responsible and furiously chases after it, eventually driving it to hide in an abandoned Medarot factory. After Ikki goes inside and defeats the Roborobo Gang member responsible, Arika praises the Select Corps (who falsely took credit for Ikki's actions) for resolving the issue.

When rumors spread that a ghost Medarot has been stealing parts in Mt. Odoro and that The Screws announce their intention to go there and claim any part they find as their own, Arika decides to go there too and pressures Ikki to come with her. Once Ikki arrives at the mountain's base, Arika offers a warm-up Robattle with her Sailor-Multi and a Pretty Prime. Arika accompanies him through Mt. Odoro, but loses him when Ikki falls in the currents near the Select Corps camp. She is relieved when Ikki returns from Mt. Odoro Marsh.

Arika gets a ticket to go to Medarot Island and meets Ikki at the docks. When Ikki laments he can't go there because his parents are too busy, Arika invites him to come with her and her mother as her father had to stay due to work. Once at the amusement park, Arika asks Ikki if he's going to sign up for the Robattle tournament there and watch the upcoming parade with her. She is the first opponent in the Block B heats, using Sailor-Multi and two Pretty Primes.

During a break in the tournament, Arika invites him to watch the upcoming parade with her but Ikki is distracted when RoboRobo Gang goons steal a girl's medals. Arika comes on the scene and pretends to be upset at Ikki for breaking his promise. She is later found in the arcade and when spoken to, yells at Ikki for breaking her concentration and making her lose the Protect the Select Corps. HQ! arcade game at the last minute. After Ikki beats the game, Arika admits Kouji had already told her about what happened and she played dumb to see Ikki's reaction.

After Ikki wins the tournament, Arika invites him to go to the Spirit rollercoaster. While inside, Arika notices a camera flash and she and Ikki soon find the photo was taken by a RoboRobo Gang member who stalks the rollercoaster for pictures of girls. The pair confront the grunt who runs away, and Arika decides she'd rather go to the Witch's Castle attraction. While waiting in line, Arika asks Ikki to buy her a drink. Of the three items offered, the Orange Juice is what she wants.

Sidequest[edit]

Depending on the player's choice at various points, Ikki can romance either Arika, Karin or neither. If the player opts for the Arika route, she will give the Cat Medal at the end of the postgame.

Medarot Cardrobottle[edit]

Arika uses Sailor-Multi and Charlie Bear as Starter Medarot when the Player fights her.

Medarot R[edit]

In Medarot R Arika maintains her role as an aspiring journalist. In this continuity however, she doesn't have a Medarot initially and is excited to publish all of Ikki's victories in the school newspaper.

In chapter 5, Medal TV was auditioning girls for the role of Kirara in their show about the adventures of Hikaru (Who Ikki would play), however, RoboRobo Gang made paints on the faces of all the girls in the city so that their leader Pink Duck would be the only woman who could win the role.

What hadn't been predicted by Pink Duck is that Arika would be the only girl of ideal age who wouldn't have her face painted, due to her tomboy appearance making the grunts mistake her for a boy. Seeing her chance ruined, Pink Duck kidnaps Arika and personally paints her face. Ikki defeats Pink Duck but due to Arika's painted face the show is cancelled.

The next day Arika reveals that the paint came off her and the other girls' faces naturally over time and that her parents bought her new Medarot, Brass, to cheer her up. She decides to participate with Ikki in the Medarot tournament, beating Iwanoi but losing to Ikki.

Arika is also a Medarotter that can be fought at rank 43.

Medarot 3[edit]

Early in Medarot 3, Arika is at the Hop Mart buying film. When Ikki comes in, a broadcast of Medarot Weekly plays and has Yuuki Nimousaku announce the contest to visit the space station. After explaining to Ikki who Yuuki is, she goes to the park to do Robattle training but she is ambushed by The Screws, who pretend the park is their territory and that they'll only allow her in exchange for one Medarot part per hour. Arika has Ikki defeat The Screws but before their battle can escalate, a strange magnetic storm wipes out everyone's Medarotch data. Arika comments she would've been devastated if she lost Brass and goes to school to investigate the accident.

Arika's search leads her to find that all medarots that were deployed while the storm occured are safe, but that the medarotch data has definitely been wiped. After finding clues on the school's second floor, Arika relays to Ikki the new that the RoboRobo Gang lieutnants have escaped custody and deduces they may be responsible for the strange occurences all over town. Arika suggests they go to the abandoned factory due to it being the most suspicious place in town and once there, notices a new lock has been installed. Venturing inside the pitch black building, she is poked by the current occupant's medarot and leaves in disgust.

She along with Iwanoi and Ikki witness the return of the RoboRobo Gang. Eventually, she captures a RoboRobo goon in town and meets Ikki, who explains to her that the RoboRobos have been using a device called the MiniMini Machine that can shrink objects. Arika thinks he is making a bad joke and in her irritation, challenges him to a Robattle with her Last Sailor. After Ikki wins, she goes to Dr. Medarot, who confirms to her Ikki is right. Arika gets an idea to get the RoboRobo to talk and goes to Iwanoi's house to subject her captive to a session of tickle torture, using Brass to hold him down. Eventually, the Robobo breaks down and confess the RoboRobo's plans to deploy shrunken "MiniRobos" to cause amock in town and their exact number of operatives.

After Ikki deals with the MiniRobos, Arika gets ready for the first round of the Tournament on the school's grounds and explain to Ikki she recruited one of her classmate as the third member. However, she gets an unfortunate surprise when Kikuhime barges in and asserts herself as the third member, having "convinced" Arika's friend to give up her spot, and repeatedly express annoyance at the team's name of "The Corkscrews". During the tournament battle, Arika controls her Last Sailor independently of the player. At Kikuhime's request, she and Ikki go check on Iwanoi at his house, but she is knocked out when Electra makes her entrance.

For the second leg of the tournament, Arika goes with Ikki to Hanazono Private School and investigates the situation when she finds that the appointment of a strict substitute headmaster at the school has caused various problems. Later, Kouji tells the two that the headmaster of the school has been using a spy Medarot to enforce his policies. Arika splits up with Ikki to find the spy medarot but she is captured by the headmaster and is used to lure Ikki into his room to be captured. After his meeting his done, Ikki asks Arika to help him prevent the headmaster from interfering with his fight with Kouji at the Medalympics. At the Medalympics proper, Arika fights in the first two battles and use Brass to reveal the spy Medarot, allowing Ikki to neutralize it and proceed to fight Kouji without interference.

In the third chapter, Arika is invited alongside Ikki, Kouji and Karin to the underground complex of Earth Mall. The group is given a tour of Earth Mall's facilities but when Ikki leaves in upset after seeing the chained Primity Baby, Arika picks up his dropped Medarotch and tries to find him. While looking around in Town, Arika witness several petty deeds by the RoboRobo gang. She meets Kouji, who is mistreating a RoboRobo prisonner. Trying to calm him down, Arika instead starts a Robattle with him, which lets the RoboRobo get away. After beating Kouji in battle, the two make up and Arika gives him the Medarotch.

After Kouji defeats Shiokara, Arika meets him and explains she realized that Ikki is inside the Geofront Scientific Laboratory. Kouji gives her back Ikki's Medarotch and she goes to the laboratory's basement to hand it over to Ikki. Later, she is one of the selectable teamate in Earth Mall's bout of the Medalympics. Starting with this one, she replaces Last Sailor with Gallant Lady.

In Chapter 4, Arika goes to Under-Shell with the rest of the team. After Ikki leaves the Merman Academy for the first time, Arika grabs the "Bubbles" ride ticket one of the boy at the Academy had given him. With Ikki, Arika rides the Bubbles pod to explore the ocean floor surrounding Under-Shell and challenges Ikki to a game of hide-and-seek for three rounds. Everytime she is found, she challenges Ikki to a Robattle with three Gallant Ladys. Eventually, Arika gets bored and returns to Under-Shell with Ikki. Soon after, she witness the principal of the Mermaid Academy buying a love pendant and ropes Ikki into investigating the cause of the rift between the Merman and Mermaid Academies, giving Ikki a student costume so that he can sneak into the Mermaid Academy.

Medabots AX[edit]

Arika is the thirteennth opponent in the Tournament, using a Sailor-Multi as her leader and a 2nd Medarot with mixed parts.

Medarot Brave[edit]

Arika appears at the start of the game, waiting for Ikki at the entrance of Tortoland. She admonishes him for forgetting about the Annual Robattle Race and explains the basics of it. Though she participates the race, she also seeks to investigate the mysteries of the park.

Later, she gets an admirer in the Aimflash Medarot Max, who wishes to become her journalistic understudy. After Ikki clears an attraction in the Earth Biome, she go see Ikki and explains she overheard Director Tune and the Select Corps discuss reports of missing Medarots.

In the anime[edit]

Medarot[edit]

Arika is one of the main character in the original anime and is portrayed similarly to Medarot 2. She is a childhood friend of Ikki and is the reason he takes posession of Metabee after she is threatened by The Rockers. Though quick to tease him, she is always happy to support Ikki in his adventures and sometimes drag him into her own investigations.

Medarot Damashii[edit]

Arika has a similar role and screentime in the sequel anime. Though still a tomboy, she displays to have more feminine interests, namely taking care of a secret garden hidden in the forest. She has a rivalry with Masu Izumi of the school's broadcast club and clears Ikki's name when he is falsely incriminated by the Death Medarot Company through edited video footage.
