Talk:Medarots in Medarot 3/Archive

Well, I added what all of the Medarots are based on and checked the model numbers against the game so they're all correct now... When I was looking things up I found explanations for some of the names and model numbers, which I want to share here before I forget them (since most of these don't have pages yet).

  • ISE-0 Shrimpresser is based on an Ise-ebi (spiny lobster). Even though it has shrimp in the name, apparently "ebi" can mean shrimp or lobster...? >_<
  • MAN-0 Limbomambo is an ocean sunfish, which are called "manbou" in japanese.
  • BOW-0 Naturally is based on a sensitive plant, which are called "ojigi-sou" (bowing plant) in japanese.
  • Danin, Shiramin, and Nomin are a tick (dani), louse (shirami), and flea (nomi) respectively. D:
  • TMN-0 Not-Touch is based on Impatiens, which are also known as "Touch-Me-Nots".
  • Basalt is based on Genbu, and the japanese word for basalt is "genbukan" (Genbu stone). Very nice.
  • HLY-0 Meda-Comet is probably from Halley's comet...
  • Hairy-Insect and Potato-Insect are both caterpillers, but the world for hairy catepillar is "kemushi" which literally means "hairy bug". Likewise green caterpillars are "imomushi", which is "potato bug". It has no relation to actual potato bugs. D:
  • UPA-0 for Axolotl comes from Axolotls being called "wooper loopers" in Japan. (This is awesome.)
  • Still, I don't know what's up with CHS-0 Spine, VBL-0 Changeling, or SPN-0 Float Spinner. :/
  • Not sure about the names on SRC-0 Grancia, or GRW-0 Liza, but GRW is from "growing".
  • I know RCM-0 Vapor-Rail is a train, but not how that relates to "RCM". Same goes for CVL-0 as a tractor, or CCL as a pill bug. Any ideas? ~ Kimbles 04:41, May 21, 2010 (UTC)

RCM = Engrish using the word "locomotor" (rokomotaa)... That's my guess though.--SoujiroElric 07:46, May 21, 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, that sounds right. XD "Locomotive" works as well... ~ Kimbles 11:50, May 21, 2010 (UTC)
SPN could just be Spin, VBL could be Variable, CVL could possibly be Civil (which seems to be in a lot of engineering projects in my mind) or a misromanized Shovel. The Golux 16:08, May 21, 2010 (UTC)
I mean, I don't know what they're supposed to be based on with vague motifs like chaser, variable, and spinner. XD Even Medadictionary isn't much help, since apparently they don't get it either... *shrug* ~ Kimbles 17:13, May 21, 2010 (UTC)

Sacred Beasts[edit]

So GNB-0 Basalt, SRU-0 Lon-Gan, BYC-0 Tsundoru, SZK-0 Sphink, and KRN-0 Genius seem to be part of a set based on the four compass points (plus center) Holy Beasts. Agreed? The Golux 03:13, May 24, 2010 (UTC)

Totally agreed, they are.--SoujiroElric 03:21, May 24, 2010 (UTC)
Yep, but I always thought the center was supposed to be a yellow dragon, not a kirin... D: Genius definitely fits in though. ~ Kimbles 03:34, May 24, 2010 (UTC)
Kirin versus Yellow Dragon was a change over time in how the myth is represented, IIRC. But yeah, when we make pages for them, they should be listed as related to each other. The Golux 04:48, May 24, 2010 (UTC)
