Maru-Maru Marmo (マルマルモルモ) is a guinea pig-type Medarot announced to be released in Medarot S.
Description
Maru-Maru Marmo is a guinea pig-type Medarot developed for use in Medarot research. Its color scheme seems to be based on Primity Baby.
Its name comes from the Japanese word marumaru (丸々 or 丸まる) meaning plump or round, as well as morumotto (モルモット, derived from marmot) which means guinea pig. Likewise, its TJN model number comes from tenjiku-nezumi (天竺鼠), a less-common Japanese word for guinea pigs.
On LINE
Maru-Maru Marmo was introduced as the mascot for a character-themed AI chatbot on LINE, a popular instant messaging service in Japan. The chatbot uses the goo botmaker service, and is named "Kuu, the Medarot with amnesia" (記憶喪失メダロット (クー). More information can be found here.
In-universe, Maru-Maru Marmo is part of a "Medarot Memory Restoration Project" (メダロット記憶復元プロジェクト), where researchers from the World Medarot Association (WMA) are studying an unknown Rare Medal excavated from Medarot ruins under the WMA's jurisdiction. The Medal appears to be heavily damaged, and when researchers equipped the Medal into their Maru-Maru Marmo for testing, it was discovered that it had lost its memories and original personality. The unknown Medal was named Kuu (クー) by the researchers, and their hope is that by making it available for LINE users to talk to, it will learn new words and phrases and begin to recover its memory in the process.
Kuu is currently in its training phase, and users can pay 3,300 yen to become "supporters" of the project with the ability to teach the chatbot new words and phrases. When the training period ends, the supporters will be credited as "research assistants" in Medarot S.
