Kirara Akita (アキタキララ Akita Kirara) is a major character in the Medarot series, first appearing in Medarot 1 as a major ally and one of Hikaru Agata's potential romantic interests. She continues to play a significant role in subsequent games centered around Ikki Tenryou, where she works directly for the Medarot Company.

Kirara is the franchise’s original "tomboy childhood friend" archetype, a trend later followed by other characters, though she is more feminine and vain compared to her successors. She also pioneered the series' tradition of masked vigilante characters, debuting as the masked heroine Beauty (コマチ Komachi) in the first game. Her alter ego served as the precursor to Hikaru’s Phantom Retort persona introduced in Medarot 2. In later games, she upgrades her identity to Retort Lady (レトルトレディ Retoruto Redi) and also appears as Z Lady in Medarot 3 Parts Collection, partnering with Z Mask, another of Hikaru's identities.

Her primary Medarot is Sailormate, though after the events of Medarot 2, she begins to regularly use God Emperor while in her Retort Lady disguise.

In the games

Medarot 1

Kirara is a classmate of Hikaru and appears in a dream at the beginning of the game, explaining the basics of Medarot assembly and what each parts does. Depending on choices made throughout the story, Hikaru can romance her or Nae. If the conditions are met for her path, she will give the parts set for Pinguen in the postgame. Romancing her is also tied to acquiring the Angel and Ninja Medals in the postgame.

When Hikaru leaves school for the first time, Kirara is bullied by Yanma and Kubota and implores Hikaru to help her. After the Robattle concludes, she thanks Hikaru for saving her but admonishes his recklessness and suggests to head to the Harbor Town to acquire more experience. After the player does so, Kirara can be found in the same spot until the Harbor Town subplot concludes and will offer a practice Robattle with her Sailormate. This can be done as many time as the player wishes to acquire experience and the Sailormate parts set.

Later she dons the disguise of Beauty and appears as the third opponent in the District Tournament, using three Medarots with a mix of LadyJet, Magentacat and Pinguen parts. When defeated, she comments that Hikaru was stronger than expected and runs off.

Prior to the finale of the World Tournament, "Beauty" is kidnapped by Typhoon and drops her phone. Bonaparte draws Hikaru's attention to it and she is found in a warehouse, presumably about to be interrogated. The interruption causes Typhoon to flee and she thanks Ikaru for his rescue, though she seeks reassurance that he did not check her phone.

When Hikaru reaches the penultimate floor of the Select Corps building and is accosted by Reika, Beauty appears to lend assistance. Frustrating her opponent with her wordy speech, Kirara insults Reika by calling her a hag. After Reika is defeated, Hikaru thanks Kirara for her help. Kirara pretends she doesn't know who he's talking about but Hikaru explains he saw her phone, flustering her.

In her ending, Hikaru's father tells him Kirara has been waiting for him on the beach. Upon meeting her, Kirara confides that while she tried to act like a big sister to him, she finds Hikaru to have "become cooler" and wants to start a relationship. Asking Hikaru to closes his eyes, she teases him by imitating a kiss and that she wanted to thank Bonaparte for helping rescue her. She thens reassures Hikaru she has another gift waiting for him.

Sidequest

To achieve Kirara's ending, the following conditions must be satisfied:

  • Not enter the girl's bathroom on the left of the school's 2nd floor at any point of the game.
  • Answer "Yes" when Kirara asks Hikaru to repeat what he said at school.
  • Answer "Yes" when Yanma asks Hikaru if he thinks he can take him on.
  • During the Ten Days of Darkness, give either the Flowercharge parts "Solar Laser" to the teacher in the school's science class, or "Roots" to the nurse.
  • At the beach, answer "Yes" to her question. This will trigger her ending.

After the credit rolls, Hikaru must speak to her in the classroom. She will then go to Hikaru's room at his house. Giving her the "Star Piece" item purchaseable from the Observatory wil lhave her gift Pinguen's parts.

Medarot 2/Medarot 2 Core

Medarot R

Kirara doesn't appear as herself in the story, appearing only as a Medarotter that can be battled at rank 6.

However, she appears as Retort Lady after Ikki Tenryou defeats Fake Hikaru. She explains to Ikki that the Hikaru he faced was nothing more than a robot that possesses Hikaru's Medarotter data.

She can also be battled at rank 8 as Retort Lady.

Medarot 3

Kirara first appears in Chapter 2 inside the Medarot Company building. When spoken to, she greets Ikki and gives the Name Tag item, allowing access to more rooms of the building.

Medarot 3 Parts Collection

At Yuuki's request, Kirara and Hikaru temporarily assume the alter egos Z Lady and Z Mask, respectively. In these roles, they steal Ikki's Medarotch and kidnap several citizens, transporting them to Robattle World.

Kirara can be battled three times throughout the game, each time under a different persona. The first encounter takes place in the Stadium Area, where Hikaru fights as herself using a Excise and two Smilodonads. Defeating him rewards the player with Excise parts.

The second battle occurs in the Space Area, where Kirara appears as Retort Lady, commanding a team of three God Emperors, just like in Medarot 3. Victory in this battle grants the player God Emperor parts.

In the final encounter, Kirara appears as Z Lady, using a team composed of God Emperor, Atheist 2, and Meda-Comet. Defeating him this time rewards the player with Atheist 2 parts.

After Ikki defeats Yuuki, Kirara and Hikaru rejoin the group as Yuuki explains his motives and actions.
