A note about names

As with many games in the Medarot series, characters' names follow a theme of some sort. In the case of Medarot Navi, this theme is meteorology - most names are derived from clouds, weather or something else involving the sky. Until this page is completed, a list of references can be found in the talk page.

The Council

Kasumi

The player character and protagonist of Medarot Navi. Victim of bullies Mizore and Gousetsu, jealous class president Niwaka and abusive tomboy Hiyori, Kasumi Asano becomes rather popular after he and Shiden discover the alien Medarot Mistral under the abandoned school's gymnasium. The field trip to the space station Cluster goes awry when it separates and goes adrift; as the new class president, Kasumi must assemble his council and reunite the students while trying to save Cluster from certain doom.

Kasumi's starting Medarot is Windclap, a gryphon-type with both attack and support abilities. However, its East Medal is stolen by Mizore, leaving him without a functional Medarot until he finds a Medal under the old school. This goes into Cluster's prototype - either the KBT-model Granbeetle or KWG-model Sonic Stag - and acts as Kasumi's avatar for the duration of the game.

Kasumi's name derives from "asa no kasumi", or "morning mist".

Hiyori

The obligatory tomboy love interest, Hiyori Koharubi takes it upon herself to keep Kasumi out of trouble. It's she that rescues him from Niwaka's prank that otherwise would've left him behind on the class trip... but when Kasumi does something silly, she's more than willing to set him straight. Physically. Also known to go soft around cute things (like the ridiculously adorable Navico).

Contrary to her harsh personality, Hiyori's signature Medarot is the healing-type Blazermate. When not repairing dented parts and reviving broken ones, she can Scan for nearby allies to increase their strength and accuracy. She later upgrades to the flying Blazer-Multi and its boxing glove'd Medachange.

Hiyori's name comes from "koharubiyori", or "indian summer".

Gousetsu

Big and strong but none too bright, Gousetsu is the first to challenge Kasumi and his Windclap to a Robottle. He relies on his accomplice Mizore to do most of the thinking for him. The two are later encountered and rematched 2-on-2; Kasumi's partner Fubuki earns their respect and the two beg her to become their leader, even making up with the new class president. Gousetsu becomes an asset throughout the story.

Gousetsu commands the yellow brute Bug Stink. Its Beam arms are strong but carry high cost and a massive blind spot; it can also protect nearby allies with its chunky head. He later upgrades to Bug Shield; its Medachanged form is even better at defense and carries easier-to-use Napalm attacks.

"Gousetsu" means "heavy snow".

Mizore

Knowledgeable but lacking in courage, Mizore follows his partner Gousetsu in Robottling Kasumi. It is he who snatches the East Medal and runs off with it, unable to win the honest way. The gig is up when the two rematch Kasumi; he finds himself rather taken with Fubuki and, lacking a strong-willed leader, the two suck up to the lady soldier. He returns the Medal and joins Kasumi's core roster of allies.

When called to Robottle, Mizore's weapon of choice (aside from Medal theft) is the water mantis Sickle Cutter. It can inflict Flux status with its short-range arms but must move each turn to make the most of the Booster in its head. He can later upgrade to Scythe Cutter and its sea-capable Medachange.

"Mizore" means "sleet".

Fubuki

Stationed onboard Cluster, Fubuki is straight-laced but not entirely heartless. She agrees to accompany Kasumi in his quest to reunite his class and earns the respect (if not affections) of Gousetsu and Mizore, effectively becoming the Kikuhime to their Kagamiyama and Iwanoi. She also seems to have a history with Rainy.

When it's time for action, Fubuki calls in the gun-laden ladybug Ptolemy. When holding a single position, its Rifle and Gatling arms gain extra accuracy thanks to the Scope in the head. The Medachange-capable upgrade Ptolemic sports more durability, a stronger Gatling and a closer-range Rifle.

"Fubuki" means "snowstorm", further securing her role as leader of this game's "Screws" allegory.

The R.R. Group

Niwaka

Class president Niwaka rather fancies himself as all that. No surprise, then, that he doesn't take kindly to Kasumi's alien encounter stealing his thunder. Pranking the kid a number of times, his coup d'grace (locking Kasumi in a garage) is foiled by Hiyori.

When Cluster is sent adrift like the bundle of balloons that it is, he finds the class outside of his control and finally surrenders his armband to the protagonist. Only later is it revealed that Niwaka is actually very knowledgeable about the station. Called out by Hiyori in the navigation center, he challenges Kasumi to a Robottle for the title (and the last of his dignity) only to be served a big slice of humble pie.

He makes good on his challenges with the airborne Rose Bouquet, a force multiplier with Zone Effect Up and Regroup arms and Napalm-launching head. Niwaka's name refers to "niwaka-ame" or "rain shower".

Shiden

His rebel streak (or riches, maybe) brings all the girls to his yard - Shiden Murasame. Only while escaping from those rabid girls does he find what he's really looking for: the alien Mistral. Discovering it just after Kasumi, he travels with the class to Cluster only to pull a Niwaka and trap our main character behind a pair of huge blast doors. The same place where Kasumi acquires a replacement for his defunct Windclap, of course.

Turns out Shiden is VIP #1 of the R.R. Group, the mysterious organization behind a lot of stuff. Kasumi and his growing party of schoolmates smack him down in Robottle on two separate occasions; he loses his Medarot the first time and loses his way the second, ultimately deciding to stick with the unexpectedly stubborn class president the rest of the way.

Shiden has access to numerous wolf-type Medarots. He begins with the grey wolf Ashton with its massive Break arm and Booster'd Hammer hand. Afterwards is Silvarion who has access to two Hammer arms and a fast-attack Medachange with a Rifle and Sword. With the final chapters comes the high-power Goldoran whose Hammer arms are exchanged for a Cerberus form and three different Beam attacks.

"Murasame" refers to "passing shower" while "shiden" means "purple lightning flash", perhaps a reference to his strong but mysterious demeanor?

Rainy

A prim and proper lady dressed in a Catholic habit, Rainy seems to be Shiden's caretaker and contact within the R.R. Group. She's also an old friend of Fubuki's, and for a time makes her question her purpose with Kasumi and his new Council.

When forced to Robottle she will utilize Lala, a hardy French doll that can disable enemies and leave them vulnerable to her wingmen. She later uses its aquatic upgrade Cradle.

The Space Robos

The Goons

Much like the RoboRobo Gang before them, the Space Robos are mostly composed of idiots, dorks, perverts and those who just don't know any better. They use a wide variety of Medarots, some more potent than others.

Nyuudou

Brute General of the Space Robos, the blue-helmed Nyuudou is placed in charge of more mountainous modules such as the Volcano. His weapon of choice is Leo, a hover-based Medarot with a beam-launching head that rivals even Arcbeetle's Prominence in raw strength.

Nyuudou's name derives from "nyuudougumo" or "towering nimbus cloud".

Sekiran

Lady General of the Space Robos, the pink-helmed Sekiran commands aquatic modules like the Galleon and Aquarium. She controls Scorpio, a multi-legged Medarot with poison arms and a randomizing head.

Sekiran's name means "cumulonimbus cloud".

Kirika

Oracle General of the Space Robos, the small child Kirika hides herself in modules that simulate human history (such as the Tatami House or the Colosseum). She commands Virgo, a trap-laying Medarot that can melt down into liquid.

Kirka's name derives from "kiri" or "fog".

Smog

Science General of the Space Robos, the intelligent Smog watches over natural habitats such as the Giant Garden module. His Capricorn can inflict instant destruction on the unwary.

Smog's name, naturally, refers to carbon emissions.

Raiun

Fiery General of the Space Robos, the hotblooded Raiun has a thing for earthy modules like the Mines and Sand Pit. In battles he sets loose his Taurus to close the distance.

Raiun's name derives from "rai-un" or "thunder cloud".

The Sixth General

Mystery General of the Space Robos, this leader's name is unknown. He only appears in the final modules; his Medarot is Rosebud, a support unit that likes to hide for as long as it can.

...He seems familiar.

Kazanbai

Master of the Space Robos. He seems to have an interest in the alien Mistral. His Robottle partner is Ophinichus the many-headed snake; its Thunder staff can stop enemies at close range.

Postgame Cameos

Rintarou

The last returning character to be fought in the postgae, he's plenty glad to face both you and Shiden in a Robottle. Depending on your game version he will lead his team with either Arcbeetle-Dash or Tyrrellbeetle, but his old Kantaros or Mach Massive are seen alongside Tamawo as backup, oddly.

Miss Tamawo

This character from Rintarou's stories will frequently battle alongside him. She utilizes the Devil-type, Blossomail.

Hasuke, Mutsuki and Bafusaku: Rintarou's Classmates

They utilize Cyandog, DonDoguu and Betty Bear, respectively.

Ikki

The protagonist of more games in the Medarot franchise than any other also visits [[the Cluster]. He will use Saikachis or Dorcus, using whichever one matches your game version.

Arika

Follows Ikki in their visit to the Cluster, and joins the Screws in their rematch against Kasumi. In battle she commands her Sailor-Multi, Brass.

Kikuhime, Iwanoi and Kagamiyama: The Screws

Visiting the Cluster along with many other characters in the postgame, being the first returnung characters to be met, this trio of troublemakers is more than willing to battle you a few times. However, they will only join after a rematch. Their Medarots are Darkpanther, Straywolf and Brownbison, respectively.

Kouji

Follows Ikki (and Karin) along for the second field trip. His version-specific Medarot is either Excise or Unitris.

Karin

Always along for the ride with Ikki and Kouji. She uses Bravenurse.

Hikaru

Medarot 1's protagonist again makes a return here. He still uses his old standby, either Metal Beetle or Head Scissors depending on the version of the game.

He is also briefly seen in his Phantom Retort guise using Arcbeetle, when fighting alongside Ikki, Arika, Kouji and Karin.

Kirara

Hikaru's long-time love interest is happy to come along with you after you show her your worth in a Robottle. Her team leader is God Emperor.
