Metal Beetle (メタル・ビートル), often shortened to Metabee (メタビー), is the original KBT-type Medarot, based on a rhinoceros beetle (or "Kabuto"). It first appeared as Hikaru's partner Medarot in Medarot 1.
Along with Rokusho, Metabee is one of the most iconic Medarots in the series, appearing as the protagonist's main Medarot in a large number of games and media. There are currently 4 distinct versions of Metabee (with different abilities, model numbers, and coloring) found across the series. Detailed information can be found on their individual pages:
- Metabee (KBT-0) - Hikaru Agata's Metabee from Medarot 1.
- Metabee (KBT-1) - Ikki Tenryou's Metabee, found in Medarot 2, 3, 4, R, and several spinoff games.
- Metabee (KBT00-M) - Azuma Amakura's Metabee from Medarot DS and Medarot 7, and also the model used in Medarot 8 and Dual.
- Metabee (KBT01-M) - A renumbered version of KBT00-M Metabee that appears in Medarot 9 and Medarot S.

Description
The first of its series, Metabee's design is based on a Japanese rhinoceros beetle, with the missile-launchers on its head representing the beetle's branching horns. Its color is mainly gold or yellow with white and black accents.
Metabee is a well-balanced Medarot that specializes in shooting attacks, designed to be compatible with the Kabuto Medal. It has a gun on its right arm designed for speed and accuracy, a machine gun on its left arm for rapid-fire shots, and can fire powerful and accurate tracking missiles from its head part.
The names of its individual parts are: Missile (head), Revolver (right arm), Submachinegun (left arm), and Ochitsuker (legs). The name "Ochitsuker" comes from the Japanese word "ochitsuku", which means to steady or settle down, in reference to the legs' balancing ability. The name was changed to "Ochitsuka" in the English releases.
In the games
In the video games, Metabee is exclusive to the Kabuto versions. It is a bipedal Medarot with a variety of shooting attacks: a Rifle attack on its right arm, a Gatling attack on its left arm, and a powerful Missile attack on its head that can pierce multiple parts.
When compared to Rokusho, Metabee can be considered to be the more offense-oriented Medarot. Unlike Rokusho which has a Scan action on its head, all of Metabee's parts are focused on attacking.
