Medarot 5 was released in 2001 for the Game Boy Color. It was released on two versions: Kabuto and Kuwagata.
The game follows the adventures of Koishimaru Tensan, who has recently moved to the small town of Susutake. Koishimaru gets a new Medarotch and meets a boy named Yamato Shijimi, but his Medarotch breaks after he gets pushed into cow manure. He later finds an abandoned Medarotch and Medarot (Chrotojil (Kabuto) or Shinzan (Kuwagata)) inside of a tree and is forced to activate them in a sudden Robottle.

Medarot 5 features a list of 158 all-new Medarots, with none returning from previous games.
New features[edit]
- The game features a new "combo" system in battles, where choosing parts with the winning symbol (rock, paper, or scissors) awards you bonuses like increased accuracy.
- Medals now have branching forms that the player can choose between.
- Medaforce is now called Medaskill.
- The graphics are much more vibrant and detailed.
- A whole new cast of characters.
- The graphics enhance and minor storyline events change when played on a Game Boy Advance.
Continuity and Placement[edit]
