Following tradition, it was released in Kabuto (rhinoceros beetle) and Kuwagata (stag beetle) versions, where the player starts with [[Metabee]] and [[Rokusho]] respectively. The game is actually a modified version of [[Medarot G]] specifically to be released to the west, as the western audience was much more familiar with [[Medarot (anime)|Medarot anime]]. So the game focuses on characters from [[Medarot 2]] instead of [[Medarot 5]].
