A Medalia (メダリア) is a small colored jewel that can be slotted into a Medal to modify its abilities. They were first introduced as a gameplay mechanic in Medarot 3, and have appeared in every recent game from Medarot DS onwards.
Effects[edit]
The in-game effects of Medalias have changed a lot over time. After initially only existing in Medarot 3 and 4 as a way of increasing a Medal's skill levels, they were reintroduced in Medarot DS with major changes to the mechanics and can now cause a variety of in-battle effects.
In Medarot 3 and 4[edit]
In these games, Medals can equip up to 3 Medalias, which have the effect of increasing the Medal's skill levels. Using Medalias, it's possible to give the Medal skill levels in skills outside of the three it can normally use.
For example, the Kabuto Medal (which can normally only use Shoot/Snipe/Set-up) can be equipped with a Support-increasing Medalia to allow it to use Shoot/Snipe/Set-up/Support actions effectively. If a Medalia is the same as one of the Skills leveled up on the Medal, the Medal will use whichever value (the Medal's or Medalia's) is the highest.
Wheter it is the "dominant" skill on a Medal or not, the Medalia's level will increase every 16 uses, for a maximum of +60 in any given skill.
In Medarot DS, 7, and 8[edit]
Here, Medalias now have a variety of effects (including improving skill levels), and each Medal can only equip one at a time. Their effects can no longer improve over time like in Medarot 3 and 4.
The ability to obtain and use Medalias is limited to the post-game in Medarot DS, but it is possible to find or purchase them earlier in the game in 7 and 8. Medarot 7 and 8 also introduced a system for crafting Medalias out of materials dropped by stray Medarots, which is only available after completing the game.
