Dr. Atom Akihabara, know to the public as Dr. Medarot, (Dr. Eugene Aki, or Dr. Aki for short in English anime), is a major character in the Medarot franchise. An inventor responsible for the creation of many key technology used in the manufacturing of Medarots, Dr. Medarot is considered a genius and the world's foremost expert on Medarots. As a result of his expertise, Dr. Medarot often offers support to the protagonists though his exact role and personality has varied between installments.
In the game[edit]
Medarot 1[edit]
Dr. Medarot is found inside the Medarot lab building, in the upper corner of the top floor. Despite his importance to the setting, he is not given a different sprite from other researchers present and has little involvement in the game's storyline.
After Hikaru fends off a RoboRobo Gang raid at the Medal Digging Site, Dr. Medarot recognizes him from the newspaper and gives the Name Tag item when spoken to. This opens up access to a gated room on the right of the first floor and is required to achieve Nae's ending.
Following the first fight with the Wolf Man in the post game, Hikaru can speak to Dr. Medarot about the situation: he theorizes that the Wolf Man's condition is caused by poor eyesight causing him to see his Medal as a moon (thus triggering his transformation) and gives Hikaru a pair of reading glasses to cure his condition. Hikaru can then give them to the Wolf Man to fight him again and get the Wolf Medal.
Dr. Medarot is more prominently featured in the game's instruction manual, where he explains the basics of assembling and controlling Medarots.
His role is identical in the game's remake Medarot: Perfect Edition. When spoken to during the Ten Days of Darkness, he gives both arm parts for Landmotor. He is given an unique dialogue portrait in this version.
Medarot 2[edit]
At the beginning of Medarot 2, Dr. Medarot can be found in his office as Ikki Tenryou visits the Medarot lab. Saying he's too busy to converse with Ikki, he tells him to go see his granddaughter Nae. However, Dr. Medarot sees potential in the young boy and arranges with Hikaru Agata to covertly give Ikki a Medarot as well as a prototype Medarotch capable of using the Medaforce.
After Ikki returns from Mt. Odoro, he visits Dr. Medarot's office to give him the broken Medarot parts he found for repairs. When he hears from Ikki that he feels his Medarot is special somehow, a delighted Dr. Medarot infers Ikki has already made use of the Medaforce and explains that his model of Medarotch has gone on sale while Ikki was in the mountains. ikki asks him how he knows about his trip to Mt. Odoro, but Dr. Medarot dodges the question and takes the broken parts to repair them.
Medarot 3[edit]
In Chapter 1, Ikki goes to Dr. Medarot's office to tell him about the magnetic storm that wiped the medarotch data. He explains that he is already investigating the incident at the Select Corps' request but has been unable to find much so far.
After Ikki discovers the purpose of the MiniMini Machine, he brings it to Dr. Medarot. He and Nae deduces that the RoboRobos cannot have been the inventors of such an advanced device. Eventually Ikki defeats all of the MiniRobos in town and gives it to Dr. Medarot. He reassures Ikki that the danger has passed and it is safe to put medarots into medarotches again but ponders how was is typically an extrasolar events seemingly started in town.
In the anime[edit]
Medarot[edit]
Dr. Medarot has a similar role to his game counterpart. He is established to have been a pupil of Dr. Gengoro Fushihara alongside Dr. Hebereke and built upon his research to create modern Medarots. In the present, he hired the Phantom Retort to collect rare medals and prevent an event like the Ten Days of Darkness from reoccuring, though he is willing to lend a helping hand to Ikki and his friends.
Medarot Damashii[edit]
Dr. Medarot is a comparatively minor character in Medarot Damashii. Various flashbacks show him having disagreements with Dr. Maizuru over his Medarot design philosophy, leading to the later to leave the Medarot Company in frustration and develop the Death Medarots.
