Omikuji Town (おみくじ町 Omikuji Chō), known as Riverview City in the west, is a location in Medarot series. This Japanese town appears mainly in Medarot 2 (Core), R, 3, and 4. It's located just west of Medaropolis.

The town is home to Ikki Tenryou, Arika Amazake, and the Screws. It's also where the Medarot Lab is located, with Dr. Akihabara and his granddaughter Nae working there. Additionally, Hikaru Agata works at the town's convenience store.

In the anime the town is renamed Ginjou Town (ギンジョウ町 Ginjō Chō), likely to keep the alcoholic drink theme, while "Riverview City" is the name in the west in both the games and the anime.

In the games[edit]

Omikuji Town is situated west of Medaropolis and south of Mt. Odoro, with a port to the southwest of the town.

The southernmost part of Omikuji Town consists of several residences, including the homes of Ikki Tenryou, Arika Amazake, and the Screws. Banchou's house is located slightly above the Screws' houses.

The convenience store is north of Ikki's house, and further north is the Medarot Lab. Omikuji Elementary School is located at the center of the town.

In Medarot 2 and its remake, there's an abandoned factory northwest of the city, which is repurposed as a laboratory in Medarot 3. A Select Corps base is located southwest of the town in Medarot R but is situated to the northeast in Medarot 3 and 4. Starting from Medarot 3, there's a park in front of the school.

In Medarot R, a second convenience store is located next to the school. This store is actually a cover for the RoboRobo Gang's underground base, where a rocket was constructed beneath the school. Since the events of Medarot R occur in a different continuity, this store and the underground base do not exist in Medarot 2, 3, or 4.

In the anime[edit]

In the anime and its sequel, the town is renamed Ginjou Town (ギンジョウ町 Ginjō Chō) and is mentioned to be located in the Kantō region.

The anime features several key locations from the original game, including Ikki, Arika, and the Screws' houses, the school (renamed Ginjou Elementary School), and the convenience store. Additionally, the anime introduces new locations exclusive to the series, such as a river, the Ginjou Corporation, the Ginjou Hotel, Ginjou Market, Ginjou Bank, and Ginjou Station.

Notes[edit]

  • The name "Omikuji" are from random fortunes written on strips of paper, commonly found at shrines and temples in Japan.
  • The anime name, "Ginjou", may be named after ginjō-shu (吟醸酒), a special brew sake made from polished rice and fermented at low temperatures. This aligns with Medarot 2's theme of naming characters after alcoholic drinks.
  • The city is named Riverview City in the western adaptation, likely because one of the first scenes in the anime shows Ikki finding Metabee's medal while "looking" at the river. Although the river doesn't exist in the games, the name Riverview City was retained in the English version of Medarot 2 Core.
