Medarot DS (メダロットDS), Kabuto and Kuwagata Versions, is a Medabots RPG game that is going to be released by Rocket Company for the Nintendo DS. The game was announced on September 3, however no release date has been announced yet.
Summary
The game's artwork is being made by Horuma Rin, the same artist thas has done the work since the beggining of the franchise. Horuma Rin's work includes the characters and the Medabots for most games, as he has also drawn many mangas, specially the Medarot-related ones. The scenarios are being made by Ichiro Tezuka, who has made the game scenarios for games like Final Fantasy IV.
As with every Medarot game there will be two versions, Kabuto and Kuwagata, where the hero will get different starting Medabots. The Kabuto one, Gunnose, is specialized in shooting, and the Kuwagata one, Sanjuuro, is specialized in grappling.
The game supports Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, which will mean the player would be able to trade parts and robattle with people around the world. The battles will be in 3D, whereas the overworld will be in 2D. However, the robattles seems to be vertical instead of horizontal, like always. The medaforce will also be present as part of the game.
The menu has new options. The most things seen in a menu were the Medabots, Medals, Parts and Library (this is, in Medarot 4 and Medarot 5). This new game brings, on its menu, Medals, Settings (apparently the Medabots menu), Parts, Mail, Applications and Items. It also has a My Data and Save options.
Characters
The main character, this time, will be Azuma Amakura (アマクラアズマ amakura azuma), who somehow is introduced to the world of robattling with a KBT or a KWG-type Medabot. For doing so, he is given to a cellphone, maybe as a reminiscent of Keitai Denjuu Telefang, a game that the developer bought licences about (also known as the Pokémon Diamond and Jade GBC bootleg), and that has the same functions of a Medawatch.
Other characters confirmed are Sakura Ooshima (オオシマサクラ ooshima sakura), Chitose Asakusa (アサクサチトセ asakusa chitose), Nut Daitoku (ダイトクノット daitoku notto) and Taruto Benii (ベニイ タルト benii taruto). Azuma will have a rival, called Kohaku Himuro (ヒムロコハク himuro kohaku), who seems to be using a new STG (Kabuto) or KLN (Kuwagata) type Medabot. The Rocket Company website also reveals that the Rubberrobo Gang is going to make an important apparition, perharps as the player's antagonist.
Ikki Tenryou will make an appearance, following Hikaru's step as a store clerk. Erika Amazake and Nae Akihabara will also appear, but their role is as of yet unknown.
Confirmed Medabots
As for now, the new confirmed Medabots are the KBT-type Gunnose, the KWG-type Sanjuuro, the STG-type Machairodus, the KLN-type Maasai Moran and an unnamed Medabot to be owned by Chitose, reminiscent to a SLR or CAT-type.
Old Medabots already confirmed are Saikachis (and, by consequence, Roks), Peppercat, Totalizer, Metabee (however no sprite or image was shown of him; instead, only an image) and Rokusho, Noctobat, Bass-Troyer (from Medarot 3 and 4), Dr. Bokchoy, Krosserdog and Pingen.
Also, new medals will make their appearance, with the God Medal being already confirmed.
