Nelvana
Nelvana is a Canadian animation studio and distributor founded in 1971 by a group of independant Canadian animators. It was responsible for importing both Medarot anime series.
History
In the early 2000s, Nelvana started to invest in the dubbing and distribution of imported anime series, licensing series such as Cardcaptor Sakura. In 2001, Nelvana acquired from Kodansha the worldwide distribution and merchandise right for the first Medarot anime series outside of Italy and Asia[1]. As was typical of its other Anime dubs, Medarot's English dub was heavily localized, having westernized character names, a new soundtrack and various edits and cuts for time and censorship. As part of the licensing agreement, Nelvana sublicensed the dubbing rights to local producers and consequently, most western dubs of Medarot (outside of the Italian one, which had been made prior to Nelvana's acquisition of the license) and Medarot Damashii are based off Nelvana's dub.
Nelvana was also responsible for hosting the official western Medabots site and commissioned the promotional game Robattle 3D
