Medarot 5 was released in 2001 for the Game Boy Color. It was released on two versions: Kabuto and Kuwagata. The game follows the adventures of Koishimaru Tensan and his partner Chrotojil (Kabuto) or Shinzan (Kuwagata). Koishimaru gets a new Medarotch and meets a boy named Yamato Shijimi, Koishimaru's Medarotch breaks after he gets pushed in cow manure, he later finds a lost Medarotch inside a tree and has to use it to defend himself in a forced Robottle.

Changes
- The game features a new Rock-Paper-Scissors style Battle System, the more times you win, the more Battle Bonuses you get.
- Medaforce is now Medaskill.
