Salt (ソルト Soruto) is the fifth main protagonist from the main series, being the central character of Medarot 8. He is, once again, another protagonist who begins his story with the classic Metabee or Rokusho although he is the last to do so in the mainline games.

Salt lost his father at a young age to an incidents involving Medarots. He almost came to resent Medarots as a result, but snapped out of it when he learned that his father's final words were that Medarots are not the problem, but people who misuse them. Out of respect for him, Salt joined Laurel Detective Agency, which investigates Medarot-related crimes. Though initially a rookie detective, Salt grows quickly in his role and soon begins to rival even Laurel himself. He is also notable as the protagonist with the most potential love interests.
