River Saucer (リバーソーサー) is a kappa-type Medarot that first appeared in the original Medarot game.
Description
River Saucer's design is based on a kappa, an aquatic creature from Japanese folklore. The "saucer" in its name refers to the water-filled dish on a kappa's head, which is said to be the source of its power.
River Saucer's legs are designed for swimming, and its arms are equipped with guns specialized for underwater combat. Its signature attack is a powerful beam, which it fires from the dish on top of its head.
The original name of its leg parts ("sangojou") is probably a play on sangoshou (coral reef) and Sa Gojou, a character from Journey to the West who is sometimes depicted as a kappa.
In the games
River Saucer is an aquatic-type Medarot with a Beam attack on its head and Anti-Sea shooting attacks on both of its arms. Its arms and legs have the Anti-Sea attribute, making it highly compatible with the Kappa Medal.
In Medarot 1
In Medarot 1, River Saucer's arms are Rifle attacks with the Anti-Sea attribute, and having either arm equipped gives all of its attacks a bonus against other water-type Medarots. Although not the strongest Beam attack in the game, its head part has moderately high power and can pierce multiple parts, making it useful early in the game.
Its parts can be obtained from random battles in the harbor town area at the beginning of the game.
In Medarot 2
River Saucer's parts are not normally obtainable in Medarot 2, and need to be transferred over from Medarot 1. It was replaced by the new KAP-type, Kappalord.
Here, because the mechanics for Anti-Sea attacks were changed, River Saucer's arms were changed to use the standard "Anti-Sea" shooting attack.
River Saucer was not included in the Medarot 2 Core remake.
