Model numbers (Japanese: 型式番号) are short serial codes used to designate a specific model of Medarot and its parts.

Format[edit]

There are three basic parts to a model number: a 3-letter code for the series of Medarot (i.e. KWG for stag beetle, CAT for cat, TOT for tortoise), a number representing a particular model in the series (0 is the first model created, 1 is the second, 2 is the third), and a second number from 1 to 4 designating a specific part on the model (head, right arm, left arm, or legs). Newer model numbers also include a letter to represent whether the model is designed for male (M), female (F), or both types of Tinpet (N for neutral).

Old vs. new format[edit]

In media released prior to Medarot DS, model numbers had the letters and numbers seperated by a dash, i.e. CAT-01 for Magentacat's head part, CAT-12 for Peppercat's right arm part, and simply CAT-1 to refer to Peppercat as a whole.

From Medarot DS onwards, the format has been changed: the number for the model is 2 digits long (as the KBT and KWG series now have 10+ individual models), and it now includes a letter representing which gender of Tinpet it was designed for (or if it's neutral). Part numbers are still 1 to 4, and are placed at the end. For example, Peppercat is now CAT01-F, and its right arm is now CAT01-F-2.

Exceptions[edit]

Although the above is the general rule, some of the video games handle model numbers differently. Medarot G/Medabots AX are the only games to not feature model numbers in any form, while Medarot 2 Core (released in English as Medabots: Metabee and Rokusho versions) only features model numbers in the Japanese version of the game.

In Medarot Navi[edit]

The model numbers in Medarot Navi follow the old format, but have two extra letters at the end to signify when they were designed, and by who:

  • N - means that it's a new Medarot made for Medarot Navi.
  • B - means that it's a old Medarot that existed Before.

The last letter refers to who designed it:

For example, Blazermate has the model number BLZ-0NF, as it was a new Medarot designed by Fujioka Kenki for the game. Conversely, Magentacat has the model number CAT-0BH (head part: CAT-01BH).

In Medarot 5[edit]

Model numbers in Medarot 5 use the old format, but with the letters CH attached to the end. (Also, all Medarots in the game are numbered model 0, even for series that already existed.) For example, Dencat's model is CAT-0CH.
