Update

Well, I filled in the missing names on the list, but I'm going to avoid adding page links for them for the time being, both here and in related Medarot sections on Medarot pages.

My reasoning is that A) the spelling is still pretty hazy on most of them (which will make updating links a pain), and B) nobody here has played the game enough to have much to say about these guys. >_> I figure we can hold of making any Shingata model pages for a while, at the very least until we have some of their sprites ripped. ~ Kimbles 13:44, 18 June 2014 (MDT)

Now that we have the sprites uploaded, I'm opening up to the idea of creating/linking pages for these guys, but ONLY the ones that have confirmed name origins (listed below). The others' names will probably change when we figure them out, and it would be stupid to add links to pages now just to have to correct them. I'm going to edit the list page to only include links to the confirmed names, so if it's not a link there, don't create the page or add links to it in navboxes. ~ Kimbles 10:51, 15 June 2015 (MDT)

Name origins

The names in this game seem to come from a mix of English, French, Spanish, Italian, German, and possibly other languages. If you can figure any out that we haven't, please add them here!

1. Strangelo: Strange + angelo (Italian for angel)

2. Deabeille: From French: abeille (bee)

3. Rossonaritz: Italian: rosso (red) + Spanish: nariz (nose) + "ritz"?

4. Archaeopti: From Archaeopteryx (prehistoric bird)

5. Jatofase: Portuguese: jato (jet) + fase (phase/stage)?

6. Peloscar: Possibly a combination of Spanish: pelo (hair) + the name "Oscar"

7. Alto Sonido: Spanish for "high sound"

8. Barrow: Another word for burial mound

9. Capo Pasqua: Italian: capo (head) + Pasqua (Easter)

10. Magisch Flow: German: magisch (magical) + flow

11. Becfee: French: bec (peck) + German fee (fairy)

12. Mauna Draga: Possibly Hawaiian: mauna (mountain) + dragon?

13. Bascurata: Spanish: báscula (scale) + rata (rat)

14. Duo Kaiser: "Double emperor", or a misspelling of "Dio Kaiser", Italian/German for "God Emperor"

15. Predicador: Spanish for preacher (as a reference to "praying mantis")

16. Ragno: Italian: ragno (spider)

17. Venenora: From Spanish: veneno (poison)

18. Maciocorpo: Portuguese: macio (soft) + corpo (body)

19. Valentorero: From valente (Italian for talented) + torero (bullfighter)

21. Mordewal: German: mörder (killer) + wal (whale)

22. Cervo: Probably from Lucanus cervus (a species of stag beetle) and a play on "servo"

23. Beet: From beetle

25. Kampf Maid: From German: kampf (fight) + maid

27. Lunaconey: From luna (moon) + coney (another word for rabbit)

29. Chainbull: Chain + bulldog

37. Famille: French: famille (family)

40. Dioza: From Spanish: diosa (goddess)

42. Toadeth: Toadstool + death

49. Prodorado: Pro + dorado (Spanish for golden)

54. Dakshoo: Probably a sneezing sound, combined with Japanese: daruma from yuki-daruma (snowman)

55. Phibios: From amphibian

56. Pelagressor: Italian: pelago (sea) + aggressor

59. Mairegne: From mermaid + French: règne (royalty)?

60. Lazhu: Possibly from Mandarin: làzhú (candle)

Duo Kaiser's name is spelled "Dio Kaiser" (ディオカイザー) on a magazine scan I have, so I'm pretty certain that's what its name was intended to be (it makes way more sense). It's 100% spelled "Duo" in the game though, so we should probably still use that for the page name regardless. ~ Kimbles 10:51, 15 June 2015 (MDT)
