Papio Chevalier (パピオシュバリエ) is an Old World swallowtail butterfly-type Medarot that appears in Medarot S.
Description[edit]
Papio Chevalier is based on a swallowtail butterfly, specifically Papilio machaon, the Old World swallowtail. It also takes inspiration from a French knight wielding a rapier, hence the chevalier in the name, which is French for knight. The rapier is styled to look like a butterfly's proboscis.
Its part names come from French words and phrases: Dans le ventre translates to "in the stomach", in reference to the phrase papillons dans le ventre or "butterflies in the stomach" (meaning nervousness). The proboscis-inspired right arm Boire du l'eau translates to "drink water", and the left arm Effet papillon refers to the butterfly effect. The leg part Hirondelle queue is simply the French words for "swallow" (the type of bird) and "tail".
Papio Chevalier was one of three winning fan-submitted designs from the Medarot S Ori-Meda design contest, held on Twitter before the game's release from July to August 2019. (The other two winners were Shuppord and Dondrill.) Papio Chevalier's design was submitted by 秋茶屋 (@AKICHAnoHITO), and was originally named Papilio Chevalier (パピリオシュバリエ), but the name had to be shortened to fit within the 8-character limit for Medarot names in Medarot S.
In Medarot S[edit]
Papio Chevalier was made available alongside the other Ori-Meda contest winners Shuppord and Dondrill from a limited-time Fierce Robottle event battle titled "Ori-Meda Grand Prix" where you fought all three. The event was introduced on February 6th, 2020 and ran for one week.
It is a ☆1 female hover-type Medarot with Fight Boost on its head part, a Discharge attack on its right, and Counter Guard on its left. Notably, Papio Chevalier is currently the only Medarot capable of using the Discharge attack (formerly known as Recharge in Medarot 9), which reduces the charge gauge of the enemy it hits.
