Because it doesn't look like one to me. I think it's supposed to be a pill bug, and I have some good evidence that's the case: The "DNG" in its code could stand for "Dangomushi", which is the Japanese word for pillbug, instead of "Dung beetle". Translated literally, dangomushi means "dumpling insect", which could be where the names "Dumpster" and "Dumply" come from. It's also listed with Denguri Roll as a pill bug-type on the Japanese wiki. And finally, it... well, looks like a pill bug. ^^; DokujaOh 19:06, 8 February 2016 (MST)

:Now that you mention it, this page from a booklet from Comic BomBom clearly calls it a pillbug/dangomushi type, so it looks like you're absolutely right. Nice find!  :D ~ Kimbles 19:43, 8 February 2016 (MST)

Are we sure it's a dung beetle?[edit]

Now that you mention it, this page from a booklet from Comic BomBom clearly calls it a pillbug/dangomushi type, so it looks like you're absolutely right. Nice find! :D ~ Kimbles 19:43, 8 February 2016 (MST)
