He returns as a minor ally in [[Medarot 3]], minor antagonist in [[Medarot 4|4]] and is again the main antagonist in [[Medarot DS]], [[Medarot 7]] and the first chapter of [[Medarot S]].

Although in many adaptations he is the leader of the [[RoboRobo Gang]], in the game continuity he is only the sponsor and uses the group for his own personal agenda. This position only changes in Medarot DS where he officially becomes the leader, dethroning [[Aurora|Conflict]].

He is the creator of some powerful Medarots like [[God Emperor]], [[Grain]], [[Particle]] and [[Cross Messiah]].

Dr. Hebereke is an old acquaintance of [[Dr. Akihabara]] and in the past the two had an intense rivalry.

The elderly man desires worldwide recognition and popularity among women. To achieve this, he allies himself with the remnants of the [[RoboRobo Gang]] that continue to operate after the [[Ten Days of Darkness]], financing them in exchange for their assistance in his schemes. A scientist from the [[Medarot Company]] also acted as a spy, delivering confidential data to Dr. Hebereke.

Following the failure of [[Shiokara]]'s plan on [[Mt. Odoro]], [[Salami]] devises a new strategy to strengthen the RoboRobo Gang by forcibly recruiting children. He enlists the help of Dr. Hebereke and [[Milky]] to implement this plan on [[Medarot Island]].

Dr. Hebereke makes his first appearance when [[Ikki Tenryou|Ikki]] and [[Arika Amazake|Arika]] arrive at Medarot Island. The old man enthusiastically greets the arrival of so many happy adults and children, leading Ikki and Arika to mistake him for an elderly man simply excited about enjoying the island.

After the first half of the Robattle Tournament, Ikki and Arika watch as [[Mr. Uruchi]] formally introduces Dr. Hebereke as the creator of Medarot Island and its attractions, as well an authority on Medarots. Hebereke explains his current research on the limiters found in [[medals]], stating that the tournament was designed for [[Medarotter]]s to help cultivate the potential of their Medarots while he conducted his study.

After Ikki wins the Robattle Tournament, Dr. Hebereke meets him in person and challenges him to a [[Robattle]], which Ikki wins. Impressed by the boy's skill, Hebereke jokingly asks if Ikki would like to be his assistant. Regardless of Ikki's answer, the old man leaves, revealing the question was just a jest.

The next day, while in [[Medaropolis]], Ikki goes to [[Medarotters|Medarotters shop]], where Arika is spending her time with some Robattles at [[Medalink]]. Dr. Hebereke is also there and challenges Ikki to a battle. After Ikki wins, the RoboRobo Gang attacks Medashop and steals the very rare [[Unknown Egg]]. Dr. Hebereke feigns surprise but, impressed by Ikki's determination and learning that he was sent by Dr. Akihabara, presents Ikki with a medal—the opposite version counterpart to the one Ikki received for winning the tournament on Medarot Island.

Ikki encounters Dr. Hebereke again in front of the Medaropolis fountain. The old man casually mentions that he is waiting for his "girlfriend". He then mistakenly assumes that Ikki, who is searching for Arika, is also waiting for a date.

After investigating the missing children further, Ikki returns to the fountain to find Dr. Hebereke disappointed that his date didn't show up. To pass the time, Hebereke challenges Ikki to another Robattle, in which Ikki once again emerges victorious. Impressed by Ikki's skills, the old man begins to show his true colors, suggesting that Ikki would make a great addition to the RoboRobo Gang. He then unveils an underground passage beneath Bonaparte's statue, much to Ikki's surprise.

Refusing to believe that Dr. Hebereke has any connection to the RoboRobo Gang, Ikki ventured into their hideout until he discovered ancient ruins entrance at the bottom. Hebereke finds Ikki in a room with a machine at its center. The old man explains his plan to find the legendary [[Fuyun Stone]] and admits to purposely luring Ikki to the ruins. He reveals that he is the sponsor of the RoboRobo Gang and was responsible for building the underground base using [[Antacker|Antackers]], all in a bid to find the Fuyun Stone. Dr. Hebereke believes that the ancient ruins hold the secret of the Medarots, and he intends to use Ikki to uncover them. He commands [[Surume]] and other RoboRobo grunts to force Ikki to continue the search, knowing that Ikki cannot initiate a Robattle due to the cave's fragile structure.

Some time after Ikki, Surume, and several RoboRobo grunts are sent to the past, Dr. Hebereke arrives at the ruins, concluding that an ancient civilization indeed existed. He then decides to use the teleporter with the other grunts. After Ikki saves [[Kodine Kingdom]], he is returned to his own time. Unbeknownst to him, Dr. Hebereke had also been in Kodine and took advantage of everyone's distraction to steal the Fuyun Stone that protects the kingdom.

With the final steps of his plan ready to be executed, Dr. Hebereke no longer sees any use for Ikki and devises a way to get rid of him. He sends a fake invitation, pretending to be Ikki, to Arika, [[Karin Junmai|Karin]], or both, depending on Ikki's decisions throughout the game. In any case, Dr. Hebereke kidnaps the girl in question and takes her to the [[Flying Fortress Fuyun]], challenging Ikki to come to the fortress and rescue her. He also sends several flying Medarots to attack the city. These Medarots ended up losing control by a special oil made by the doctor himself.

While Ikki ventures through Fuyun, Dr. Hebereke explains to Arika and/or Karin how his flying fortress is able to fly with just a small stone, thanks to the artifact being outer space technology. He reveals his plan to defeat Ikki, who has been thwarting his schemes, and to build the biggest and most powerful Medarot to prove he is a better scientist than Dr. Akihabara. He believes that achieving these goals will make all the girls in the world like him. Although the girl is not intimidated by the villain, Hebereke asserts that his trump card is his powerful Medarot, boasting that he is the only one who knows how to remove the limiter from a medal.

Eventually, Ikki reaches the fortress bridge to confront Dr. Hebereke and rescue the hostage. Ikki emerges victorious, which infuriates Hebereke. In a fit of rage, he calls upon [[Harvey]], a flying Medarot who had befriended Ikki, to fight him. With no choice, Ikki engages in a Robattle and wins, returning Harvey to normal. Dr. Hebereke then reveals that his special oil is used to loosen the medals' limiter. However, he refuses to continue explaining the limiter and flees to the Engine Room. Kouji joins Ikki in pursuit of the villain, and together they reach the room where the Fuyun Stone is located.

Dr. Hebereke ends up falling into the room due to a malfunction in his descending chair. When Ikki questions why the Fuyun Stone is there, the villain explains that he followed Ikki to Kodine Kingdom and stole the stone. Disappointed, Ikki engages in another Robattle with Dr. Hebereke and wins. However, the battle causes the Fuyun Stone to become unstable, allowing Dr. Hebereke to seize the opportunity and escape.

With Dr. Hebereke escaping and the Flying Fortress losing control, Ikki and Kouji decide to divide the tasks. If Ikki chooses to pursue Hebereke, he finds the villain in the landing zone, preparing to flee in an escape pod. Ikki intervenes, initiating another Robattle, which he wins, damaging the pod in the process.

Even in desperation, Hebereke cannot jump from such a height. To his surprise, the effect of the special oil quickly wears off, and all his flying Medarots regain consciousness. Seizing the moment, Ikki tricks the Medarots by announcing that the first one to catch Dr. Hebereke will win a special oil. This tactic not only immobilizes the villain but also causes the [[Penguin Medal]] to fall from him, which Ikki happily retrieves.

Alternatively, if Ikki chooses to help prevent the flying fortress from crashing, Kouji will take on the task of stopping Dr. Hebereke.

After the fortress lands safely, Dr. Hebereke is arrested by the [[Select Corps]]. However, the villain warns Ikki that he hasn't seen the last of him, vowing that the world will still be his. Unfortunately for Ikki, Dr. Hebereke's words prove true. The next day, he and the rest of the RoboRobo Gang escape from jail. The group of villains sends a letter challenging Ikki and his friends on Medarot Island.

Accompanied by [[Hikaru Agata|Phantom Retort]] and [[Kirara Akita|Lady Retort]], Ikki finally arrives at the underground laboratory in the RoboRobo Gang Hideout, where Dr. Hebereke is waiting for them. Realizing it is pointless to reason with the scientist, Phantom Retort prepares for battle, but their confrontation is interrupted by a tremor caused by Dr. Hebereke's latest and greatest creation, the [[God Emperor]].

Dr. Hebereke recounts [[Medarot 1|an incident from over ten years ago]] when the RoboRobo Gang used the Medarot [[Beast Master]] as their secret weapon. At that time, they had no knowledge of the medal limiter. Now, however, Hebereke has discovered how to manipulate the limiter, enabling the God Emperor to surpass current limits of power and ability. Dr. Hebereke commands three God Emperors to attack Phantom Retort.

The phantom thief and his Metabee/Rokusho manage to defeat two of them, but are taken by surprise when the third continues to move and attacks, destroying Retort's disguise and revealing him as [[Hikaru Agata]], much to Hebereke's satisfaction. However, Hebereke had not anticipated that removing the limiter would not only increase the Medarot's power but also remove its obedience system, causing the God Emperor to stop obeying humans.

The God Emperor turns against Hebereke and attacks him. Stunned, Dr. Hebereke sees no way to stop his out-of-control creation. The God Emperor soon shifts its attention toward Ikki, forcing the boy to initiate a Robattle. Despite being placed in a Robattle twice, Ikki manages to defeat the God Emperor, leaving Dr. Hebereke impressed but disappointed as all his work has ultimately failed. Furious, Dr. Hebereke plans to self-destruct everything, hiding behind a strong lock and forcing Ikki to flee outside. However, Hebereke did not anticipate that the bomb was actually firecrackers.

With all his plans having failed, Dr. Hebereke is arrested by the Select Corps once again. Before he can be taken away, Dr. Akihabara arrives to have some final words with his old rival, pointing out that Hebereke never changes and that all this was due to a pointless grudge. The villain is then finally taken away.

Dr. Hebereke was temporarily released to assist the Medarot Company in their fight against the alien forces on the moon. He constructed a massive Medarotch, capable of teleporting all Medarots within a certain area nearby to Medarot allies, essentially amplifying the basic function of a standard Medarotch on a much larger scale.

Once his task was complete, Ikki Tenryou can faces Dr. Hebereke in a friendly Robattle, who now commands [[Genius]] Medarots. After Ikki's victory, Hebereke gives the boy [[Grancia]]'s head part. Despite being imprisoned for a year, Dr. Hebereke remains fixated on his goal of world domination.

Dr. Hebereke's legacy is a major part of Medarot S'sstory mode, where his niece [[Hisaki Kaguya]] is a major character. it is stated that he designed the Medarot models [[Cross Messiah]] and [[Fancy Aile]].

==In the anime==

Dr. Hebereke serves as the primary antagonist in the anime, displaying a significantly more villainous and cruel demeanor compared to his original portrayal in the games. In this adaptation, he leads the [[RoboRobo Gang]] and is initially depicted with the classic villain trope of concealing his face in shadows, always accompanied by a cat.

Dr. Hebereke, along with [[Dr. Akihabara]], was a disciple of [[Dr. Gengoro Fushihara]]. However, when Fushihara began to perceive the potential danger of his Medal theory, he made the decision to discard it. This led to a conflict between Dr. Hebereke and Fushihara, during which Dr. Hebereke fought to steal Fushihara's research. Subsequently, Hebereke set fire to Fushihara's lab, an act that presumably resulted in Fushihara's death.

Eventually Dr. Hebereke became leader of the RoboRobo Gang. He orchestrates the operations of the gang from distance, always driven by the goal of acquiring rare medals to achieve world domination.

After several failed attempts from the RoboRobo Gang, Dr. Hebereke dispatches [[God Emperor]] to acquire Metabee's medal. Once he succeeds, he uses the Medarot to control numerous other equipped with Kabuto Medals. This move lures [[Ikki Tenryou|Ikki]] and his friends to the gang's base, where Dr. Hebereke discloses to [[Rokusho (Anime)|Rokusho]] his involvement in Dr. Fushihara's demise.

During the ensuing confrontation, Dr. Hebereke unveils himself as a human-like Medarot, possessing the capability to integrate parts from other Medarots into his body. Following his defeat, his Evil Medal is put in Giant Emperor, but he is ultimately defeated. Upon analyzing the medal, Dr. Akihabara discerns that this Dr. Hebereke was a replica imbued with memories from the original, with the whereabouts of the real one being unknown.

Unknown to everyone else, Dr. Hebereke had been utilizing the Robattle World Tournament as part of his plan. He awaited the showdown between two formidable Medarots with rare medals, intending to use a giant resonator located in the stadium. His goal was to take control of all the Medarots and turn them against humanity, repeating what happened during the [[Ten Days of Darkness]]. Specifically, he targeted Metabee's and [[Victor]]'s Warbonnet's power to achieve his nefarious scheme.

Once his plan was revealed, Dr. Hebereke claimed to be a descendant of the Medarolians who had disguised among humans. However, his plan ultimately failed thanks to the strong bond of friendship between Ikki and Metabee.

With his second plan thwarted, Dr. Hebereke summons a giant [[Primity Baby]]. His colossal Medarot is defeated by a Giant Metabee, piloted by Metabee and his friends. After his defeat, Dr. Gengoro Fushihara descends from outer space and informs Hebereke that the Medarots have no desire to rule over humanity.

Hebereke's cat expresses gratitude to his owner for everything he did, then ejects a Medal from its head. This action releases the cat from Hebereke's control, revealing that the cat's Medal is the true descendant of the Medarolians. Fushihara offers to take Hebereke with him, and the villain departs for outer space.

Cosmo-Alien resembles the classic "gray alien" archetype, with large red eyes. Unlike most Medarots, it lacks mechanical-looking parts, instead having a body made of nanomachines that allow it to shapeshift. It bears red symbols on its forehead and chest, which are replaced with red triangles in its Navi redesign. In battle, Cosmo-Alien can transform its head and arms into random Medarot parts, giving it an unpredictable fighting style.

In the Medarot universe, Cosmo-Aliens are frequently implied (and confirmed) to be actual extraterrestrials who arrived on Earth via spaceships. This suggests that they may serve as examples of what the original Medarots could have looked like.

As a race, they first appeared in Medarot 1 and play a major role in [[Medarot 2 Parts Collection]], where they ask Ikki Tenryou to help them and Hoketa fix the Fuyun Stone. They also make appearances in some scenes of [[Medarot 3]].

== Abilities ==

Cosmo-Alien's major function is transforming its Medaparts. Unlike members of the [[:Category:Elemental Series|Elemental Series]] (such as [[Windcecil]] or [[Flame Tisara]] who are focused on attack or support transformations, Cosmo-Alien has no restrictions on what it can transform into... aside from being entirely random. As such, it is impossible to predict the course of a battle when one side uses three of them (usually Dr. Aki).

To access Nae's ending, players must satisfy the following conditions:

* Avoid entering the girl's bathroom on the left of the school's 2nd floor at any point of the game.
* After defeating [[Typhoon]] at the [[Medal Dig Site]], speak to [[Dr. Medarot]] to obtain the "Name-Tag" item. This is required to access the room she is found in.
* Inside Nae's room, do not wander in the restricted area at the top and steal the [[King Pharaoh]] parts.
* Whenever the [[Observatory]] becomes available, go inside and talk to the receptionist on the first floor to buy a Star Piece.
* After completing the City Tournament, talk to Nae and accept her request to help with testing a Medarot Part. She will then loan Hikaru the [[Heal Angel]] part "Angel Leg". Equip the part and speak to her again to Robattle her. She uses three Medarots with parts from Heal Angel, [[Pastel Fairy]], [[Bunnyheart]] and [[LadyJet]].
* After completing the District Tournament, speak to Nae again and she will ask to test another Medarot part. Answer "Yes" to receive the Heal Angel part "Angel Body". Equip and speak to her again to initiate another Robattle.
* When Nae asks if the part is an improvement, answer "Yes".
* If Hikaru successfuly performed the tests, Nae can be found in front of the Observatory. When spoken to, she will mention that being closer to the stars will make one's wish more likely to come true. Answer "Yes" to her question.

At the beginning of [[Medarot 2]], a busy [[Dr. Medarot]] suggests [[Ikki]] to see Nae if he wants to learn more about Medarots. Interrupting a spat between Ikki and [[Shiratama-kun|an employee]] guarding access to her room, Nae greets Ikki and invites him to her research lab. Once inside, she invites Ikki to check out the upcoming Elemental-series Medarots.

Nex to Nae's lab is a room with the [[Bat Medal|Bat]], [[Kappa Medal|Kappa]], [[Mouse Medal|Mouse]], [[Chameleon Medal|Chameleon]], [[Rabbit Medal|Rabbit]] and [[Monkey Medal|Monkey]] medals. At various points of the story, Ikki can return to Nae's lab and collect a medal of his choice. The opportunities to do so are:

Nae tells him she heard about the accident and offers him [[Medalia]]s for his medals. If the player says they don't know how to equip Medalias, Nae will explain how to and what purpose the Medalias serve. She will also let Ikki pick one of three Medals: the [[Witch Medal]], the [[Heel Medal]] or the [[Hero Medal]].

'''Medarot R''' was released in 1999 for the Sony PlayStation. It's the only Medarot game to ever be on a non-Nintendo system, next to its PC (Parts Collection) counterpart. It follows an alternate take on the adventures of [[Ikki Tenryou]] and his friends in the town of [[Omikuji]] which doesn't appear to match the events and timeline in [[Medarot 2]], [[Medarot 3]] and [[Medarot 4]].

Medarot R is the first Medarot game to employ 3D graphics, specifically for its battle sequences. It uses the character designs and feature some characters and Medarots introduced in the [[Medarotter Rintarou!]] manga although its storyline does not closely match that of the manga.

==Plot==
===Day 1===

On his birthday, [[Ikki Tenryou]] is surprised with a kit for [[Metabee (KBT-1)|the Medarot]] he had requested for so long. While looking for his friend [[Arika]], Ikki goes to the local shop and walks in on a [[RoboRobo Gang]] trying to push [[Hikaru]] to purchase a [[Noctobat]]. Ikki's appearance creates enough of a distraction to allow Hikaru to change into his [[Phantom Retort]] guise, who gifts Ikki a [[Medal]] to use with his new [[Medarot]]. Ikki easily defeats the RoboRobo and Arika suddenly appears. Explaining she was there all along, Arika snaps a photo and proclaims what has transpired will make for an excellent scoop for the school's newspaper. Ikki heads to class and becomes acquainted with his new fourth-grade teacher, [[Jick]].

Arika publishes the story, but [[The Screws]], who were expecting [[Kikuhime]] to be the paper's front page photo for the third time in a row, become furious. They trash the newspaper's room and chase after Arika. Ikki confronts them in the gymnasium and defeats all of them in [[Robattle]], which Arika plans to make into a 2nd story. After Ikki leaves school, he is accosted by [[Kouji]]. Kouji has heard of his fight with The Screws and wants to challenge him to a Robattle, but he is talked down by [[Karin]]. Reflecting on his new reputation as a [[Medarotter]], Ikki goes to bed.

After waking up, Ikki hears of a news report about the launch of a [[Goriongo|new gorilla-type Medarot]] and reports that the Phantom Retort has been giving [[Medal]]s to people walking around in the park in [[Medaropolis]]. Ikki convenes with Arika at school and Arika express her intention to find out more about the Phantom Retort for the school's newspaper. Leaving school, Ikki bumps into The Screws, who claim they had their new Goriongo stolen by a strange man dressed as a pirate in the vacant lot behind the school. Ikki heads to the lot and finds Kouji, who also claims to have seen the mysterious pirate.

Ikki walks to the park to find Arika and finds out that the Roborobo Gang has been scalping Goriongo parts. He speaks with one [[Katekin Ten]], who explains who the Roborobos are and predicts that the only store that's not been picked clean of Goriongo parts is [[Kameya]]'s shop in [[Lucky Town]]. Arika pops out from behind the bushes, explaining she was there to ambush the Retort, but Ikki mentions his conversation and Arika decides to go to the Kameya to buy the Goriongo parts and lure out the retord. However, once there, both her and Ikki struggle to order from the store's seemingly elderly and hard-of-hearing owner.

Ikki heads to Lucky Town's shrine and meets a priest who explains that Kameya has been faking poor hearing due to suspicious buyers. After being defeated in battle, the priest deems Ikki pure of heart and awards him a charm. Ikki shows the charm to Kameya, which gets her to offer to sell the parts, but they are interrupted by the arrival of the RoboRobo leader [[Red Makko]]. Red Makko explains he has been scalping parts to fund the RoboRobos and for his personal interest. After Ikki defeats Red Makko, Kameya awards him Goriongo's parts and invites him and Arika to check out [[Messy Town]]. Beast Master's type is ''weapon'', and its design is based to make it look like full of weapons. Its ''Death Blast'' part allows it to shoot a big [[Press]] attack, heightening an enemy's gravity to crush it under its own weight. Its ''Death Bomb'' shoots many [[Napalm]]s at once and its ''Death Beam'' shoots a powerful [[Beam]]. However, its slow charge/cooldown times make it rather vulnerable to attacks if not supported by other Medarots.

While not based on an animal, Beast Master's body and name is invocative of a [[wikipedia:lion|lion]], the king of beasts. Its torso resembles a lion's face, with the red details being the eyes, the shoulders the ears, and the attachments on the back the mane.

On the other hand, some features of this Medarot are unique compared to other Medarots and seems strongly inspired by the EVA-01 from the anime Neon Genesis Evangelion, especially its teeth, chin and the purple-green pallet. This is more evident in the manga, in as scene where he enters in berserk mode and starts to 'eat' a [[Belzelga]], as EVA-01 did in the anime, provoking in [[Kirara]] a similar reaction of astonishment as the one Misato Katsuragi presented in Evangelion. Beast master is a multi-legged Medarot equipped with [[Press]], [[Napalm]], and [[Beam]] attacks. It serves as the final boss in Medarot 1.

The most potent defenses against Beast Master's weapons are via attack-canceling parts, specifically [[Negate Explosive]], [[Negate Gravity]], and [[Negate Optical]]. Just remember that you still need attacking parts (or damage-dealing Medaforces) to break a potential stalemate.
In the other hand, you can equip [[Negate Explosive]], [[Negate Optical]] parts and a protect part on the leader while another Medabot has a part to steal head uses from all of them, this will make [[Beast Master]] unable to damage your Medabots by using [[Break]] attacks.

==Synopsis==

Some time after the events of the previous series, Ikki meets [[Nae]], a kind and gifted Medarot mechanic who gives him a new [[Medarotch]] model and upgraded [[Saikachis]] parts for Metabee. Ikki's world is upended when is he targeted by [[Ginkai]], a vicious and cheating [[Medarotter]] who uses [[Death Medarot]]s. The Death Medarots are a new type of Medarot who lack emotions and individual personalities due to their generic Medals, and who obey orders without questions, including those that ignore the rules of Robattle. The distribution of the Death Medarots is spearheaded by one [[Kokuryuu Kamizake]], a callous young boy.

Kokuryuu hatchs various plots to discredit Ikki and Metabee and destroy Metabee in an effort to prove the superiority of the Death Medarots. Further complicating this situations is the arrival of the [[Mysterious Medarotter]], a skilled individual who is on a quest to destroy all Death Medarots, but whose ruthless methods makes him little better than what he claims to despise.

Medarot Damashii was produced by a different studio than the first anime and saw a near-complete turnover in staff beside the voice actors , the composer and the director of the ending credits animation.

The series is initially animated with traditional cel-based techniques before switching to digital ink and paint starting with episode 17.

==Continuity==

Despite being a sequel. Medarot Damashii contradicts or ignores various aspects of the setting established by its predecessor. No justification is given for these changes. A possible reason is that Damashii having a different crew and had its production overlap with that of the original series (being ready to air one week after the end of its predecessor), Medarot Damashii's production staff may have not been informed of story decisions made on the previous series while writing their own show.

* Various major characters from the previous series, most prominently [[Kouji Karakuchi|Kouji]], [[Karin Junmai|Karin]] and [[Mr. Uruchi]] do not appear outside of brief cameos in the Japanese ending animation. Their absence is not explained or noticed in any way.
* The [[Medaforce]] is explained as being ineffective against Death Medarots due to it targetting a Medarot's emotional component. This is despite the original series depicting the Medaforce inflicting very real damage to objects and human targets.
* The previous series ended with Kouji's [[Smilodonad]] using the Medaforce despite having a regular mass-manufactured medal, with a line from [[Dr. Medarot]] in the final episode (cut from the English dub) explaining that the release of Metabee's Medaforce has unlocked the potential for Medaforce in generic Medals. . Damashii ignores this development and sticks with the idea of only [[Rare Medal]]s and the new concept of [[First Medal]]s being able to use the Medaforce.
* The [[Select Corps]] does not appear to exist: Ikki's father is shown working as a regular salary man and when [[Blossomail]] rampages through town, conventional police forces are the one to respond.
* The show inconsistently portrays the relationships between a Medarot's body and its medal. While many episodes accurately portray the medal as holding the medarot's personality and memories, Episode 17 has Ikki acting as if Metabee is dead after his body is seemingly destroyed, despite holding his medal in his hands. Characters are also shown to be disproportionately agitated when an inert medarot body is attacked or pounced on after its medal has safely ejected.
* While the original series showed Medarots being used by adults and Medarots having non-combat utilities, Damashii portrays them as near-exclusively used by children beside Nae having a personal assistant in the form of [[Honey]]. Part of Episode 23's plot hinges on a man being viewed as creepy and suspicious for robattling children as an adult, despite this scenario happening multiple times in the original series with no apparent stigma.
* The Death Medarots [[Excise]] and [[Unitris]] are obviously based on Smilodonad and [[Warbonnet]], iconic medarots in the previous series. The ressemblance is not commented on in-universe nor is it explained how the Death Medarot Company is able to market designs clearly derivative of its competitor's products.
* The concept of Submission Robattles is not mentioned. As such, Medarots do not gain or lose parts after Robattles.

==English dub==

As with the original Medarot, the series was licensed by Nelvana and aired as a third season of Medabots from 2003 to 2004, continuing the episode numbering. Unlike the original series, all of Medabots Spirit's episodes were aired in the same order as they were in Japan. Not all markets that aired the original series aired Medabots Spirit.

The English dub continued the translation and editing style of the previous series' dub, though some practices were heightened in the process of localizing Damashii:

* The series saw heavier censorship than the original series, with various scenes of more intense violence being cut and Ikki & Metabee expressing attraction to Nae being removed. Episode 23 had its scripts heavily rewritten from a story about Ikki mistaking Nae to be in an arranged marriage to one about being Ikki upset that Nae is going away on a summer job as a Medabots researcher. According to dub script writer [[Rob Tinkler]] in an interview, the localization staff were concerned about the appearances of a younger woman like Nae seemingly being engaged with an older man.
* Medabots Vital Stats screens are used far more frequently than they were in the original series, seemingly in an effort to pad runtime due to other scenes being cut. Medarots such as [[Arcbeetle-Dash]] and [[Comadog]] get as much as five such screens throughout the run of the series, even in episodes when they have little screentime and no importance to the plot.
* The final's episode ending credit montage is cut and replaced with a scene of Nae narrating over stock footage of the series main characters.
* Some characters have considerable changes in voice types and speaking patterns:
** Blackbeetle has an heavily-modulated, demonic-sounding voice in the English dub while her voice in Japanese is no different than that of other medarots.
** [[Kintora]] has a squeaky, high-pitched voice contrasting with his heavyset appearance, while the English dub gives him a deep, bassy voice.
** Kokuryu is written as more overtly vindictive in the English script, frequently cackling and directly taunting and threatening the heroes in comparison to his more calm and collected disposition in the Japanese script.
* Due to script change, some plot and character details are muddled or absent in the English dub:
** In the Japanese dialogue, it is explicitely said that Ginkai is a fourth-grader like Ikki and his friends, with his absence in school scenes being explained as him attending another school in the neighbouring "Dobrok Town". The English scripts removes the mentions of Dobrok Town and Ginkai's age, making his age relative to the other children more ambiguous.
** It is mentioned by Kokuryuu that Blackbeetle's Medal is modeled after a First Medal, explaining her sapience and ability to pool into the Medaforce. This line is removed in the dub.
** Episode 31 specifically identifies Arcdash's Medal as being a First Medal while it is left vague in the English dub.
** Due to the removal of the extended credits in the final episode, it is not made explicit that the Death Medarot Company ceased to exist after the events of the finale.

==Reception==

When it first aired in Japan, Medarot Damashii saw a furious reaction from older fans of the previous anime with complaints centering around its continuity issues, the quality of the animation and the writing, darker atmosphere, and the perceived unflaterring and out-of-character portrayal of characters carried over from the previous series. The backlash saw a Trans Art producer (signing under the name "Sato") post an impassioned letter on the company's official website acknowledging the negative reception and the show's lack of ties to the previous series.

Not all impressions were negative and in the years following its airing, some viewers have praised Damashii as improving significantly in its second half<ref>[https://w.atwiki.jp/medadictionary/pages/457.html Medarot Dictionary page on the series], describing its reception among the domestic audience. Retrieved April 8, 2024.</ref>, with stories such as Ginkai's redemption arc and Blackbeetle's inner conflict being praised. This reappraisal is far from universal, however, and as such Damashii remains a contentious chapter of Medarot's history.

==Differences with the games==

* As mentioned before, Medarot Damashii focuses on an original story, so it doesn't directly follow the events of Medarot 3 or 4. Rather it uses some of their elements like Medachange and some new Medarots.
* As usual, the anime follows the story of Ikki as a protagonist who chose the Kabuto version. Due to this Dorcus appears as the Medarot of a new character.
** However, while Metabee himself received his Saikachis model appearance, the anime's Dorcus is an entirely new character unrelated to Rokusho.
* All new characters, with the exception of Nae, don't exist in the games.
* Most of the changes from the previous anime remain true here. This includes most battles being 1v1 rather than 3v3. However, there are cases like Yuuzuru Oozora who uses two Medarots at the same time and for that he needs two Medarotches (One from each arm). In games this is unnecessary, a single Medarotch is capable of giving commands to three Medarots at the same time.
* Some new Medarots are called Death Medarot in the anime, and are said to have different architecture and medals incompatible with regular Medarots. This doesn't exist in the games and all these models are simply Medarots.
* Unlike the previous anime, the final boss here is the same from the games, [[Grain]] from Medarot 4. However, the context of Grain as the final enemy is completely different in the two stories. [[Particle]]'s existence is omitted in the anime.
* Damashii portrays Medarots as having limited ammo for all of their ranged weapons and not just their head parts as is the case in the games. The Death Medarot's ability to reload mid-fight is explicitely called out as cheating.
* In the games, Medarots are stated to have self-rebuilding nanotechnology and highly resistant armor. While the topic of medarot maintenance is not brought up much in the first anime, Damashii portrays medarots as needing to be repaired and maintained by dedicated mechanics.
* As with the previous anime, male Medarots are able to use female parts and vice-versa without issue.
* Some Medarots display different qualities than they do in their game of origin:
** Damashii depicts [[Gairot]] as hovering while it walks in [[Medarot R]].
** Some Medarots that can Medachange in Medarot 3/4 (namely Blackbeetle and Put-Cat) do not display this ability in Damashii.
** Blossomail is depicted as a male Medarot while all of her game appearances establish her to be a female model.

== Description ==

Cosmo-Alien resembles the classic "gray alien" archetype, with large red eyes. Unlike most Medarots, it lacks mechanical-looking parts, instead having a body made of nanomachines that allow it to shapeshift. It bears red symbols on its forehead and chest, which are replaced with red triangles in its Navi redesign. In battle, Cosmo-Alien can transform its head and arms into random Medarot parts, giving it an unpredictable fighting style.

In the Medarot universe, Cosmo-Aliens are frequently implied (and confirmed) to be actual extraterrestrials who arrived on Earth via spaceships. This suggests that they may serve as examples of what the original Medarots could have looked like.

As a race, they first appeared in Medarot 1 and play a major role in [[Medarot 2 Parts Collection]], where they ask Ikki Tenryou to help them and Hoketa fix the Fuyun Stone. They also make appearances in some scenes of [[Medarot 3]].

== Abilities ==

Cosmo-Alien's major function is transforming its Medaparts. Unlike members of the Elemental Series (such as [[Windcecil]] or [[Flame Tisara]] who are focused on attack or support transformations, Cosmo-Alien has no restrictions on what it can transform into... aside from being entirely random. As such, it is impossible to predict the course of a battle when one side uses three of them (usually Dr. Aki).

As can be predicted by their shared motifs, Cosmo-Alien is best suited for the [[Alien Medal]] and also the [[West Medal]] and their bonuses towards Transform parts.
