Medarot Brave (Medabots Infinity in western markets) is an action game released in 2003 for the Nintendo GameCube. The game keeps most of the systems from the mainline installments but switches the gameplay to an overhead 3D shooter alternating maze gameplay and one-on-one Robattles. The story has Ikki and Metabee investigating mysteries in the newly-opened amusement park of Tortoland.

The game features the cast of Medarot 2 and incorporate elements of the first anime series into its setting and character portrayals. It was the last Medarot title to be released outside Japan until a global release of Medarot Survivors was announced in 2025, and also the final installment to be developed by Natsume.

Story
stub

An amusement park called Tortoland has recently opened. Ikki and Metabee as well as Arika and Brass have headed there to participate in the Annual Robattle Race, a contest which promises the winner an annual pass for the park and rare parts. While they participate in the rate, they acquaint themselves with the park's creator Director Tune, and the researcher Dr. Haru who claims to be looking for a suspicious Medarot. They also meet Koji, The Screws, and Karin, who has befriended a stray Medarot named Spring that seemingly had a traumatic experience with her previous master.

Ikki learns from Arika that there have been reports of Medarots being lost at the park, with the few that returned speaking of dark place where they are kept prisonner.

Continuity and Placement
The game occurs between Medarot 3 and 4, specifically following the continuity of the Kabuto version. It features the Saikachis and Dorcus models instead of Metabee and Rokusho.

Gameplay
Medarot Brave's gameplay is divided into two phases: Overworld and Stages. In the Overworld, the player controls Ikki and Metabee. In this phase, the player can talk to NPCs, consult their Medarotch and interact with terminals tied to the attraction, which allow for saving progress and enter the attractions where the Stage segments occur. Each zones of Tortoland is themed after a biome and players must clear the attractions in a specific order to progress.

Prior to entering a stage, the player must select one of their assembled Medarot. Once in a stage, players control their Medarot using the analog stick. Medarots can execute a Special movement tied to their Leg part and attack using the currently-selected weapon. Stages involve reaching a gate or teleporter while avoiding traps and enemies. Completing a stage may involve puzzle solving by way of stepping on switches or using objects to activate them. A stage is over when the player's Medarot reaches the exit teleporter or defeat the enemy Medarot found at the end. While exploring a stage, the game may trigger Missions, which involve objectives such as defeating another Medarot within a time limit.

Medarot selection
:See Medarots in Medarot Brave

The game features 44 Medarots returning from previous titles and one brand-new medarot, for a total of 45.

Not all Medarots featured have equal opportunies to assemble their parts set and some will require trading to be fully assembled. Hippopojamas is also impossible to fully assemble without use of external modification as its Right Arm part does not spawn through any means.

Further more, due to a glitch preventing players from obtaining Koji's pass, it takes two saves to get Aimflash as the player fights him twice, and it take two to get Blackbeetle's parts as the player gets to fight her thrice. This bug is fixed in the v1.1 of the game, where players can rematch Aimflash and Blackbeetle as many times as they want.

GBA Connectivity and issues
The game takes advantage of the Nintendo GameCube's ability connect to the GameBoy Advance for extra content. If players link their GameCube to a GameBoy Advance with a copy of Medarot 2 Core inserted, they will be able to unlock a bonus Medarot (Arcbeetle for Kabuto/Metabee version and God Emperor for Kuwagata/Rokusho)

However, the feature suffers from issues in most releases of the game. In the Japanese version and first-run prints of the North American release, the trigger for completing Kouji's quest in the postgame is bugged and as such, players cannot acquire the pass necessary to collect the unlockable Medarots in Story Mode. This issue is fixed in the v1.1 printings of the North American release.

The European release fixes the Kouji pass issue but removes the link option entirely without giving players an alternate way to collect Arcbeetle and God Emperor. However, by using external programs to convert a save file of the American version into an European-format file, it is possible to reintroduce the Link feature, though this only works when the game language is set to English.

Reception
On her personal webpage, Hirano Kana expressed that she was dissapointed when she heard Medarot Brave returned to the cast of Medarot 2 as she felt that if the Medarot series continued to be successful, it would not need to tread back to Ikki and friends.

Notes
*In Japan, pre-orders would additionally receive a Gamecube face plate when ordering the game from participating stores.
*Stock artwork of Metabee's KBT-1 body is used on the North American disc and back cover despite these parts not being featured in the game.

<span style="font-size:11px;">This page describes the Medarot model found in Medarot 9 and Medarot S. For other Metabee models, see Metabee. For information on the character itself, see Metabee (character).</span>

Metabee (メタビー), short for Metal Beetle (メタル・ビートル), is the original rhino beetle-type Medarot. The model number KBT01-M specifically refers to the version of Metabee that features heavily in the storyline of Medarot 9's Kabuto version.

Description
This version of Metabee is identical to the KBT00-M model that appeared from Medarot DS to Medarot 8, with the model number being the main difference between them.

The model number was most likely changed due to its yellow coloration resembling the KBT-1 model used by Ikki in Medarot 2, rather than Hikaru's KBT-0 model from Medarot 1. The change also facilitated the addition of an alternate brown-colored Metabee (resembling KBT-0) under the model number KBT00-M.

Like other Metabee models, this Metabee is a shooting-oriented Medarot based on a Japanese rhinoceros beetle, with missile launchers on its head representing the beetle's branching horns. It can use a variety of shooting-type attacks, and its KWG-type counterpart is the KWG01-M model of Rokusho.

In the games
Like other versions of Metabee, it has a Missile attack on its head, Rifle on its right arm, and Gatling on its left.

In Medarot 9
Unlike previous games where Metabee was almost always the player's starting Medarot, Medarot 9 features Metabee in an antagonistic role. It is exclusive to the Kabuto version of the game, and the Kuwagata version features KWG00-M Rokusho in its place.

Its stats have been changed slightly, but this Metabee's abilities are otherwise identical to KBT00-M's in Medarot 8: a Missile attack on its head, a Snipe-capable Rifle attack on the right, and a reasonably powerful Gatling attack on its left. its legs have the "Charge Shot" ability, which increases the Shooting and Power stats of its shooting attacks by +5 when at 100% charge.

He is found when Tenma and Zipper approach the Mine shaft, apparently guarding the place, and telling them to leave. After beating him once, you can challenge him again for his parts as many times as you like if you want Zipper to downgrade to Metabee.

In Medarot S
Metabee is a 3-star Medarot that can be obtained from the starting Gacha, as well as other Gachas that can give 3-star Medarots.
Metabee is given to Ikki by Hikaru Agata after a misunderstanding when Ikki went to the store to buy Retort Curry for dinner. That same day, as Ikki's father returned from work, Phantom Retort approached him and handed him a Kabuto Medal to give to his son. Unlike his mother, Ikki's father encouraged Ikki to become a Medarotter and gave him the medal, bringing Metabee to life.

On the way to school, Ikki is approached by Arika Amazake, who, upon realizing that Ikki finally has a Medarot, challenges him to his first Robattle. She reassures him that the battle would be friendly and would not involve handing over a part of the Medarot to the winner. Despite Arika and her Sailor-Multi, Brass, having more experience, they are defeated by Ikki and Metabee.

At school, Ikki and Arika witness the Screws ruining the Robattle Contest for other students. Arika encourages Ikki and Metabee to do something about it. Ikki and Metabee face the three members of the Screws, who then decide to use their three Medarots against Ikki's only Metabee.

Although it seemed unfair, three against one was a valid rule in Robattle. However, the Screws' advantage was short-lived when Metabee defeated all three Medarots at once using his Medaforce, Issei Shageki, leaving the Screws frustrated with their defeat.

Despite this incredible feat, Metabee would not be able to use Medaforce again until the Kabuto Medal's Aim Shot had enough level.

In Medarot R
Unlike previous games, Medarot R is not split into Kabuto and Kuwagata version, allowing Ikki to acquire both Metabee and Rokusho in a single storyline. Metabee is Ikki's initial Medarot, and while Ikki can use other Medarots and parts throughout the game, Metabee always appears in scenes where Ikki's Medarot is shown. If a scene requires displaying more than one of Ikki's Medarots, both Metabee and Rokusho will appear together.

In Medabots AX
Ikki and Metabee arrive on an island to participate in a robattle tournament. Metabee explains to Ikki that he must win the preliminaries in six locations on the island to qualify for the finals and compete for the prize.

Metabee, with his Kabuto Medal, is Ikki's initial Medabot, accompanied by a female Tinpet with a Mermaid Medal who initially has limited parts available, primarily Sailor-Multi's.

After winning the preliminaries, Metabee is excited about the finals, urging Ikki to stay focused and not let his guard down. In the final, they defeat Koji and Sumilidon. However, their victory is short-lived as the Rubberobo Gang invades the arena to steal the prize, leaving Ikki and Metabee frustrated. Metabee encourages Ikki to pursue the villains.

After defeating the Rubberobo Gang and retrieving the prize, an Arcbeetle model, Metabee celebrates, eager to robattle as much as they want now.

In Medarot 3
In Medarot 3, Metabee becomes a proper character in the story, unlike his silent appearances in Medarot 2 and R. He now has dialogues and actively participates in scenes. The player cannot transfer the Kabuto medal to another game before finishing the story, with Metabee even yelling at Ikki not to trade him with someone else.

Metabee's personality is based on his Medarot anime counterpart, retaining his selfish attitudes and constantly annoying Ikki.

Due to an incident, Ikki loses all of his medals and parts acquired in Medarot 2, except for Metabee, who was outside of the Medarotch when it happened.

Eventually, Nae Akihabara provides new parts for Metabee, upgrading him to the Saikachis model, which allows him to use Medachange. Due to Ikki's tendency to lose his Medarotch, Metabee is used by other characters such as Arika Amazake, Kouji Karakuchi, and Karin Junmai.
Ikki can be found in the post-game, where he uses Metabee in his Saikachis model.

In Medarot G
Ikki and Metabee are opponents that Koishimaru Tensan can Robattle. For some reason Metabee is not in his Saikachis model.

In the manga
In Medarot 2
Ikki could afford a Medarot and he strongly wished for one. However, his parents would not give him permission to get one. A KBT Medarot was in the store, and Ikki would always keep an eye on it. Ikki almost bought it, but there were no Medals in stock, to which Hikaru says that his dog once found one, and that said event would not happen again. Ikki then mistakenly breaks the Medarot and runs from the store.

Ikki tries to find a Medal by making Solty go find it. However, he did not return with one until some tries later, where he coincidentally found a Kabuto Medal. However, Solty was seen by two thieves, who chased Ikki all the way to his house. They challenged Ikki to a Robottle with a DeathPhoenix and a Sabotenna, but as Ikki had no Medarot, both thieves tried to steal the Medal using the Medarots. Solty, who had the Medal, ran to avoid the attacks from the Medarots. Ikki took his and his parent's valuables and went to buy a Medarot to defend himself from the attacks. As the Medarot was broken, it was going to be given to the store manager's son, however Hikaru decided to sell the Medarot to Ikki. It was almost given to the little boy, however it was transported to where Ikki was and he Robottled against the thieves. The KBT Medarot did not obey Ikki, however he beated the thieves quickly. By the second episode, the Medarot was named Metabee.

Mr. Uruchi confunded Ikki's Metabee with Hikaru's, and even Hikaru pointed out this Metabee was exactly the same as his.

In the anime
-->Voice Actors: Junko Takeuchi, Joseph Motiki (EN)

Ikki longed for a long time to be a Medarotter. This was not possible since he couldn't afford a Medarot. Luckily for him, he saw a Kabuto Medal in Omikuji City's river. What he didn't know is that said Medal was a rare one. But when he sees his friend Arika being harshly attacked by The Rockers, he runs to the store clerk, Hikaru, and buys a Medarot using the Medal he found. Hikaru gives him his old Metabee's Parts packed, and tells Ikki to name his Medarot Metabee. In the american dub, though, Ikki names his Medarot like this. When Ikki goes to Robottle The Rockers, Metabee showed to be fast and powerful, being capable of beating two HellPhoenix and a Blackmail with a Death Bomb all by himself. He started being a disobedient Medarot, but later Metabee grew up having a bond with his Medarotter. The relationship between both is that of two siblings, fighting for common things like bed and food. However, when it comes to Robottle, both show to be strong and righteous.

Ikki and Metabee went to a World Robottle Tournament, much like Hikaru did back then. An event similar to the Ten Days of Darkness occurred when Ikki was in the finals against Victor and his Warbonnet.Metabee wakes up in a dream where everyone refers to him as Kyuumo and he is sent to command an army of KBT-TYPES and fights Rokusho. However, Ikki could rescue Metabee from his dream before he had to shut down his Medarot like Hikaru did. Both stopped the event to occur, and when Dr. Hebereke saw his plan to make Medarot own the world was screwed, he created a giant Medarot to destroy the city, and later the world, directly and without having to control every Medarot, as his last resort. Dr. Medarot foresaw this, so he built a Giant Metabee to fight Primity Baby. However, it had to be driven by Metabee himself and many other Medarots to power up him. After a long and hard Robottle, Metabee decided to sacrifice himself to save the world. He was short after revived and brought back. After said event, Ikki could end the Robottle against Victor.

A time after these events, a guy named Ginkai and his Death Medarot, Gundesperado, caused riot in the city. This was part of a bigger plan from Kokuryuu to end with the Medarots and that his company models, the Death Medarots, were predominant. Ikki faced Gundesperado with Metabee, however, he lost, despite he used the Medaforce. Ikki got a new Medarotch, the Medarotch Advance, from Nae, aswell as new Parts for his Metabee. As Metabee now could Medachange, he used this capability to skillfully defeat Gundesperado. Metabee's Reckless Mode allows him to transform into a car, gaining mobility this way, whilst his Crafty Mode allows him to shoot an energy ball to his enemy, dealing massive ammount of damage.

Even though Metabee himself is strong, himself alone wasn't enough to fight Grain. Even then, help from other Medarots, namely Dorcus, Tyrrellbeetle and Arcbeetle-Dash (all of them KBT and KWG-types) was needed to stop him, and even that was not enough.

A special model based on this Metabee appears playable in Medarot S, known as Metabee A.
It's the game's interpretation of the specified wanderer Rokusho which once belonged to Dr. Fushihara in the anime.

Description
Rokusho A (from Anime) is a wandering Medarot that appeared in the TV anime version of Medarot. Official name: "Head Scissors". His color scheme is closer to that of the anime, and he wears his iconic cloak.

A combat-oriented type, he easily dodges the opponent's attacks and cuts them in half with a single blow. It specializes more in grappling and scanning techniques, making it suitable to wear grappling-based medals like the Kuwagata one.
Main Article: Rokusho (Anime)

Rokusho is a mysterious Medarot. An old stag beetle-type Medarot who possesses the Kuwagata medal. Almost always wearing a dirty old cloak, Rokusho appears to have no master, and he sporadically appears throughout the series, first appearing in episode twelve when saving a small puppy from a river in a rainstorm. When Metabee asks for Rokusho's name, he simply replies 'My name is of no importance'. He later explains that it is the only thing that he still owns. He spends a lot of the series searching for his lost Medarotter. He offers words of wisdom and help to Ikki and Metabee in Robattles, however, he dislikes the idea of Robattling for fun. His main goal is to protect rare medals, such as his own, and all forms of life.

Long ago, Rokusho did have a master, whose name was Dr. Gengoro Fushihara. However, he disappeared in a fire, whom we later find out was caused by the Roborobos, ordered by Dr. Hebereke. Rokusho was called Youhaku (Nickel-silver) by Dr. Fushihara. Later on in the series, Rokusho reunites with his friend Baton, the robot parrot pet of Dr. Fushihara. Baton is given false memories by Dr. Hebereke, to make Rokusho go berserk by learning that Dr. Akihabara killed Dr. Fushihara. In reality, Dr. Hebereke gave the order to the Roborobos to have Dr. Fushihara killed. Dr. Fushihara's body was never recovered from the fire. When searching through the remains though, Rokusho discovered a secret lab under the cottage, to learn that humans weren't the one that made the medals in the first place, but an ancient civilization, made long before humans even existed.

Rokusho also possesses a rare medal, and can utilize the Medaforce through his Chanbara Sword. Rokusho is a very solemn Medarot, but is usually polite with others. He refuses to Robattle unless it is to defend someone or something, and is the only Medarot who goes by this way of life. He is also guided by a strong code of honor.
