Help:Model numbers

This page will tell you how to write model numbers on lists and Medarot pages in the proper format.

Model number format[edit]

Model numbers are usually listed for individual parts in the video games. When refering to a whole Medarot, this wiki uses the model number with the digit refering to the specific part cut out. The games use the following formats:

Most GB/GBA-era games[edit]

Example: KBT-01

KBT refers to the "type" or "series" (rhinoceros beetle Medarots), the 0 means it's the first in the series (1 would be the second, 2 would be the third, etc.), and the 1 means it's the head part (2 is right arm, 3 is left arm, 4 is legs).

To refer to the whole Medarot, remove the last digit (KBT-0).

Medarot Navi[edit]

Example: KBT-01NF

This is the same as the above format, but with a 2-letter suffix referring to who designed the Medarot and whether or not it was introduced in Navi.

To refer to the whole Medarot, remove the last digit before the suffix (KBT-0NF).

Medarot 5[edit]

Example: KBT-01CH

Same as above, but here the suffix is always CH. For the whole Medarot, remove the last digit before the suffix (KBT-0CH).

Medarot DS onwards[edit]

Example: KBT00-1-M

Here things are a bit different. The 00 means it's the first in its series (01 would be the second, 10 would be the 11th). The 1 refers to the head part (2 is right arm, 3 is left arm, 4 is legs), and the M means it's male (F is female and N is neutral).

These games already simplify the model numbers to refer to the whole Medarot (in the Medarot encyclopedias) by leaving out the digit for the part (KBT00-M), or more commonly both the part and the gender (KBT00). On Medarot pages on the wiki, you should always include the letter for the gender at the end (KBT00-M).

From Medarot 7 onwards, Medarots that can Medachange are listed with a -C at the end of their model number. This can be left out on Medarot pages, but should be included on Medarot lists.

Medarot 8 also introduced some Medarots with -T2 or -P# at the end of their model numbers. On Medarot pages, these should replace the letter for the gender at the end (BER00-T2).

Exceptions[edit]

A handful of Medarots in Medarot 3-5 use the same model number as another Medarot, but their parts are numbered 6-9 instead of 1-4. For these, we add a 5 to the end of the model number when refering to the whole Medarot on lists and Medarot pages (i.e. KBT-5 for Saikachis, KBT-55 for Blackbeetle).

On Medarot lists[edit]

The model numbers on the game-specific Medarot lists should match how they appear in that specific game, mistakes included. The only exceptions to this are the ones mentioned above, and Rokusho (KWG-0)'s model number in the original Medarot 2, for which KGW is obviously a typo so it's corrected to KWG on the list.

In file names[edit]

Model numbers in the file names for sprites and 3D models should match the ones on the Medarot list for that specific game. Luckily all of the sprites have already been uploaded in the correct format, so there shouldn't be any need to change them.

On Medarot pages[edit]

The Medarot infobox should use either the most common or most correct model number out of the ones that appeared in the games (this is open to debate). However, it should always use the format that the Medarot was first introduced with. Medarots introduced in 5 and Navi should use their original model numbers even if they appear in later games, and only Medarots introduced from Medarot DS onwards should use the new format in the infobox. Changes in the model numbers over time can be mentioned in the body of the article.

The related Medarot sections should use the model number in the Medarot's infobox on its own page.

Why these rules?[edit]

In practice, it makes it possible to refer to the Medarot by a single model number across the wiki and makes it easier to tell which game it was introduced in at a glance. If you want to suggest changes, please leave a message on the talk page.
